My BCL 102 - Help me make it a sub MOA machine!

Hey guys, i just received my gen 2 102 the other day. First thing to go on was a Nightforce SHV 4-14x56 with Burris PEPR mount. I may end up switching it out with the Nightforce 4-14x50F1 but i'm still undecided. Overall appearance is better than i expected other than the charging handle removing the cerakote after pulling on it ONCE. As for performance i'm hoping to get it out next weekend to see how it shoots.

Im looking for advice on how to make this a light, reliable, sub moa rifle. I am a firm believer on spending the money up front for quality parts. I would have no issue stripping it down to the bare bones receiver and starting from the ground up. If you guys could help me build my shopping list it would be much appreciated.

change the barrel to something really expensive, change the bolt so it precisely matches the barrel.
I have the same scope so that should be fine.
If you want to lose weight get a different handguard.
And finally buy tons of different match grade ammo of all different makes and weights so that you can find your sweet spot ammo.

No problem, just change out the action to a bolt action style, like a Remington 700 or Weatherby type of action, change the stock to fit you, and add a nice long 26 inch barrel to it, you will now have a very reliable, highly accurate subMOA gun.

Sorry, but I seriously do not understand guys that want to buy a Hyundai, but expected it to perform like a Porsche.
You would literally have to change out the entire gun, realistic, reliable, consistent sub MOA in this platform is not possible, no matter how bad BCL owners wish for it.

Nice stock photos though.

Thanks! Any advice on barrel or BCG? this will be my first AR style build so im a bit of a rookie. I should mention that ideally id like to switch over to 6.5 creedmoor so i can run the same ammo as my ruger precision rifle if possible.

I have a 1000 yard sub moa bolt gun, i know this wont be an easy task but thats the fun part for me anyway. If I couldn't have a Porsche in canada i would buy a hyndai and build it from the frame up to make it as damn close to a porshe as possible. Im sure im not the only one either.
 
Maybe a CFW 20 inch barrel and matching bolt?
Chambered in 6.5.

Keep the weight down ,with the benifit of a heavy barrel.

That’s what I’m going with, when I get my Stripped set.
 
Check out mystic precisions posts...he got sub 1/2 inch from a 102 with a new McGowan 6.5 Creedmoor barrel on it with the first load tried.
 
Take off all the BCL parts, Replace with quality components.

Adjustable gas block is a must, Good barrel and a real BCG.

I was hoping you might jump on here DIlli. If you had my rifle (I know its not a 1st Gen!) and an unlimited shopping spree which route would you go? Makes and models would be super helpful! I have done a ton of research but im hoping for advice on whats the best of the best.

You know you have been able to buy AR15 and AR308 rifles with sub .5 moa guaranteed from the bench for a fairly long time now.

Not even bedded.... haha. Good one!

I kind of thought the old myths regarding the accuracy of AR rifles had died in the early 2000’s. At the very least by 2010, never mind 2018. Here’s some food for thought:

The 2010 International Sniper Competition and the winning rifles provide us with some insight into what today’s most talented snipers carry and shoot when they have a choice. The winners of the Service Class were SFC Chance Giannelli and SFC Ed Hoymeyer. Both men won with the LaRue OBR. Chance’s gun had a 16-inch barrel, and Ed’s had a 20-inch barrel. A USASOC headquarters team won the Open Class, and the spotter of that team also carried a LaRue OBR. Three out of the four winning rifles were LaRue OBRs. This is what we sometimes refer to as a “clue.”

Put an ad to n here, for a group buy.
Ended up ordering 6 barrels and 4 BCG, directly from CA.
Got a nice discount as well.
I don’t think they’ll do it again though, and will direct you to there Canadian dealers.
