Acheived a new personal milestone today

Congrats and good shooting. Consistency is the key!
I’ve been at this for about 3 years now and I can honestly
say that I’ve not done what you did. Now I want to head
out to the range this instance and try!!

If you just want to watch just drive in. Park where you see the other vehicles then walk out to the range.
F class has F-Open and F/TR. Regular TR Class is iron sights.

Thanks all!

odsixer : I like my insite arms brake, but have nothing to compare it to.
My rifle recoil is so soft, I wouldn't be scared if a small frame zero experience shooter would try it out.
It's a combination of using lower node (42.7gr Varget), heavy rifle weight and muzzle break. But don't know how much or little heathens brake contributes in this.

Maynard : thanks for info. If time is on my side i'll drop by.
Any rifle disciplines at Connaught use muzzle brakes in some practices or events?

The only discipline that allows muzzle brakes are in Service Conditions: either Service Rifle, or Precision Rifle.
With the rifle you have here, it would be Precision Rifle. No brakes are permitted in F Class or Target Rifle.
Precision rifle matches are between 200m and 800m. The DCRA website has the rule book which has complete descriptions of the matches.

MartyK2500, so happy to see this project come together... You have learnt a huge amount of stuff and glad it is working well for you.

Very consistent shooting indeed...

Jerry

Thanks Jerry, you have been a part of this project and we got her done!
Your advice and parts sales from BC helped my assemble this in Quebec.
Makes me wonder what local contacts I would have to meet if I wanted to do projects like this, pre-internet!

Just went through the rule book, other than my light trigger (currently set to 2 1/4lbs), my equipment pretty much fits the bill.
The match course looks hard though, something to look up to in the following months or year.

Nice work Marty! Cool when a plan comes together!

This is very cool for me for this plan to come together indeed.
I had that 1/2 moa objective in my scope from day 1.
Although I expected my factory savage barrel in an MDT chassis to bring me there, switching to an IBI barrel has made consistency way better.

Factory savage 10TR barrel could do 2x 0.5 moa 5 shot groups in a row.
As soon as heat got to it it would open to 0.7/0.8 moa, that IBI in contrast, seems to keep constant even when hot, and even groups better.

Was very happy to help you get the right gear and loads... you learn very fast.

There is a problem with competing that you may as well know now... once you start, you will see gear that works better... and then you change stuff and tweak stuff and improve stuff.

It is a lot of fun, doesn't need to cost a fortune and you learn so much more.

In a couple of years, you will look back upon this post and go..." that was a solid START"

Ah yes i know all too well about competing and the equipment race!
Fortunately (or unfortunately depends how you see it) i have lived this in my main sport, IPSC pistol.
I was climbing up the rankings and buying better and better guns.
Going to provincials and training hard, trying to always be the best i could and rank up.
My best pistol was an SV infinity at last, and cost more than this rifle setup, scope included!

Once i saw that my professional life is fragile and needs my full attention, i have come to terms with competing local only.
Hence why i now have a glock 17 gen 5, only shoot local, and try to beat all the CZs and tanfoglios for s***s and giggles.

The same applies to the rifle.
I know i can’t travel/compete outside much, so what’s the point on going full on competition setup/heavy custom.
That is why i went 308 vs 6.5x47 lapua.
At least i will be allowed to attends Barneys events in Petawawa with their caliber restrictions.

Go have fun with that 308.. it will serve you extremely well .... there is a saying.. " the more I practise, the more accurate my rifles become"

Enjoy and say hi to Barney next time he is rushing you guys through a mag change....

Forgive, me but I'm a little confused. Aren't those squares 1 inch in size?

I don't know.
These are Word files targets. Print them myself, so if you look at my target it's 1 piece of standard 8.5''x11'' sheet.
When I shoot at different distances, I change the amount and size of diamonds on target.
For 200M, they are either 2'' or 2.5'' dia diamonds, so I can aim them properly.

I will!
Is that your 783 in 6.5CM?
I often pondered on the rem 783, it's the remington made savage in my opinion.
If MDT would support that platform, it would be my next build, having such a small ejection port (compared to my 10TR that's got the complete half top portion cut out) must give a bit more ridgidity.
