Currently have an Noveske N4
Was wondering what brand are what quality? Heard a lot of good things about noveske that’s why I got one
Also looking to get an MR223, how does it compare to the noveske ?
What tier would DD be compare to noveske or HK
What tier are what manufacturers? (HK, DD, Sig, NEA, PSA, Colt, cobalt, DPMS, S&W, FN etc)

Tagged for interest

I have a feeling NEA are going to be quite far down the list (I say that as an NEA owner who is in the market for a second AR15 style gun)

I think an often over-looked aspect of quality guns is the actual testing, R&D and engineering put into certain brands. Lots of them out there are more akin to parts producers, vs. truly having the know-how and technical aspects of backing up their quality pieces. Given that, a lot of the companies who do such a thing do a very poor job of explaining what goes into their rifles.

You however cannot go wrong with Noveske, Colt (Colt Canada too), HK, Sig, FN etc. They all product know-quality products, that also have the design and engineering to back up what they produce.

Top quality TDP or (+) AR's ( Colt, Colt Canada, BCM, LMT, FN, DD, Sabre ) $$$
Decent TDP "pattern" AR's ( Armalite, Bushmaster, Windam Weaponry, DPMS, Palmetto, S&W, Stag, Aero, Core 15, CMMG, Troy, Spikes) $$
High end, Piston OR Stoner rifles ( Knights, SIG, Barrett, H&K Cobalt, Larue, POF, Noveske, ATRS ) $$$$$
Bargain basement ( anything chinese) $
Crap (NEA)d:h:

Yep, id rather shoot a Norinco any day over an NEA gun.

I’ve owned Colt Canada sa15, Stag Arms, CC build,and a Core15.
The Core 15 had the best fit and finish.

If it weren’t for the NR sets, soon to be released, I would choose the CC.. just because it’s a cool gun:)

C'mon guys be nice to NEA .... I have a Gen 1 NEA DMR and so far it has not failed me yet!

Will eat any ammo I feed it from the dirty Russian Surplus / Norinco to Hornady Match to my re-loads .... I get a "decent" group at 100 meters with the 18.5 inch barrel.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Probably the tech that was putting it together was in a very good mood at that time or it was made on a Wednesday. LOL :)

NEA to HK? Thats quite the upgrade!

Armalite makes an AR-15 that caught my eye (3 gun variant) - where do they fit in the quality spectrum?

Top quality TDP(+) AR's ( Colt, Colt Canada, BCM, Noveske, LMT, FN, DD, Sabre ) $$$ Agreed except FN does not make/offer TDP guns to the public.
Decent TDP pattern AR's ( Armalite, Bushmaster, DPMS, Palmetto, S&W, Stag, Aero, Core 15) $$ Nope, sub standard NOT TDP guns for the consumer market. Stag, and Aero are decent as are S&W M&P line not their Sport series.
High end TDP (+) Piston OR Stoner rifles ( Knights, SIG, Barrett, H&K Cobalt Larue ) $$$$$ High end but not necessarily TDP spec, still excellent
Bargain basement ( anything chinese) $ Junk
Crap (NEA)d:h:Unsafe garbage

That's better. :)

Yea, quite surprised that NEA review are horribly, my NEA never had failed me. Always go with any mag or any ammo. Feeding it Remington , select or the cheap non corrosive lol.

The problems I have seen with NEA:
Loose gasblocks. Loose castle nuts. Gritty/non functional bolt catches. Too tight mags. Too loose mags. Mags do not drop free. Mags get jammed in the magwell. Loose barrel extentions. Canted rails. Too much headspace. (unsafe) Too tight headspace. (bolt has trouble closing on a factory round). Full auto parts (selectors) on lowers. Can fire in 2 positions. Broken bolts after a few rounds. Out of spec gas keys. Loose gas keys.

Other than those issues they are great.

That's better. :)

TDP refers to as close as we can get to an issued gun. Based on materials and specs.
TDP (+) refers to any materials/ standards that are superior to military specs.
TDP pattern just refers to "standard" non billet pattern weapons, based on the M4/M16, which may or may not include TDP materials or standards.
