Building a 10/22

A34304FE-3129-467F-B273-03F63136FA92.jpgFirst you need a receiver and bolt.
They’re on the EE now and again.

Or you get a used 1022 and strip it down.

Then you have to choose a chassis.

Lots of options.

Then a barrel.

I liked Nordic components chassis, can be had from iron eagle Tactical.
And My preferred barrel is a Tactical Solunions ,aluminum barrel.
Light and accurate and can be gotten from Wanstalls.

Here’s one I did a few years ago.

You really only have the two options above. 1) start with a stock 10/22 reciever or 2) start with an after market reciever such as DLASK. Ether way you need to figure what your end state is: plinker, "tactical", target and then start choosing components from there.

I'll skip the plinker, because if you want that you are probably better off just sticking with a stock 10/22.

For "Tactical" i'd chose either a Nordic or Troy chassis, both are all metal and excellent but you have greater options for handguards with the Nordic, barrels you could go with a Dlask SR profile, or a ruger OEM. .920 barrels i find a bit forward heavy on a "Tactical" build. Bolt, trigger and other parts doesn't much matter.

For a target build I prefer Dlask receivers, Kidd or GM barrels. The 2 stage kidd triggers are the pinnacle of 10/22 triggers but you are paying through the nose for them, their single stage are almost as good but a bit cheaper. If you are building something like this be prepared to dig deep into the wallet for $1500 easy.

I would buy a Dlask receiver (DAR-22).
If you want to use hi cap magazines Dlasks Tuf-22 will set you up fine.
I would also locate a KIDD heavy barrel, they are excellent.
