So I recently purchased an rmr off the ee and I'm pretty sure it's a fake. The seller claims he got it from his local gun store and it's real. Compared to my other 3 RMRs I find some signs. I took some pics compared to a real rmr01. I'm just wondering if you guys think it maybe take as well?

The glass is clear no tint of blue.

The patent markings etc are similar but slightly off.

The battery compartment is different. It's magnetic to hold in the battery instead of the prongs. The backing is black instead of gold with no mention of dot size.

The dot seems a little weak and off colour.

The seller told me to ship it to trijicon for verification. I checked their website and under authentication they say they won't do it unless they have it in hand and I'm fairly certain it's fake so don't want to waste money on shipping it and getting back might be interesting due to itar.

I do like my RMRs lol.

I offered to ship it back to the seller for a refund but his response was as above and then I asked again and am waiting for a response.

If he doesn’t take it back then a negative feedback for sure. Did you not get pictures before purchasing? I honestly don’t know what these are worth but at least a few hundred I’d assume.

I got some pictures beforehand but was hard to tell. Once I got it in hand it was more obvious. Negative feedback is planned if there's no refund. I don't know if he truly thought it was real or not. I did ask him which gun store he got it from. I think retail these are 600ish.

$500+

Op: If the seller dosnt take it back then leave negative feedback. I once bought a fake shipping on here from a reputable member I had to harass him a bit to return it becouse he really believed it was real in the end he took it back and we went desperate ways.

I’ve looked up a bunch of videos and reviews on fake RMR’s, this one has every sign of a clone. There are some really good fakes out there, the one the OP has is just an eBay special though.

So talked to trijicon and sent in pictures. It is a real rmr and their first models did not have tinted glass and had a magnetic battery compartment.

Apparently they made about 18000 of these but only released less than half and then due to cost of parts changed to what we see more commonly.

wow, i would have called fake, very interesting post, and now like PE said above, you sort of have a collectible
