BC Hunters - 2018-2020 regulations out (Finally!)

No I'm being serious and I guess you can call me wasteful.
Sure if I get a deer, or I'm closer to the truck with something larger, I'll hump out the whole thing to get as much meat as possible.
But if I've done some serious miles in a hike for something larger, like an elk, I'm seriously going to consider the worth of taking out all that weight in rib bone for what meat is actually there.
Neck, no question, it can go in a game bag along with loins and straps.

So I'm curious how far you folks would hike carrying out everything but the guts on something large like an elk?

I'm not judging ya bud, I get what yer saying.

It's not that big a deal to whip around the ribs to strip off the meat that is there. A couple minutes more gets the stuff from between the rib bones.

Given the number of nearly complete fore-quarters I have found abandoned at various hunt camps, I am not opposed to them codifying this as a requirement, just a little amazed at the number of folks that left such behind that the authorities decided it needed to be done so.

I mean, seriously. Knife-work. Not rocket science.

Haul meat, not bone. Do a decent job, and even the ravens will stop following you around, as they can't get a decent meal off what is left behind!

you are preaching to the choir , I need no convincing.... I generally take my animals out whole or in quarters 90% of the time and to the hanging room. I live for wild game sausage so every scrap and scraping of edible portions , including heart, liver, kidney goes into my food supply.
I go as far as to pack out the hides, heads and lower legs if I feel that the local first nations can put those parts to good use. Nose and tongue are highly prized traditional native foods as are leg bone , hide and brain valuable items for native craft. There is little to leave to "for the ravens".

Less hunters = less overall support for the firearms cummunity. These are "political decisions" IMHO.

I don't know; most hunters I know look at the rifle as just another tool like a chainsaw, truck, quad, axe, etc. They don't get all over excited about belonging to a chainsaw website for example.

LOL almost shot the coffee out my nose when i read that .
So true though. I been trying to get my local hunting buds to pay attention to billc71 and they are still clueless. Then they are all whining about the new regs and I just laughed at them.

everyone is so clueless to what is happening in this country. From the price of homes and fuel to these laws that restrict the law abiding and these new weed laws that will pad the family bank accounts of liberal families , ex politicians and piles of ex LEO's..... Our canada is being destroyed in a rigorous fashion and everyone is doing NOTHING to put a stop to it. NO good strong decent canadians with true canadian values are running for politics anymore, there is NO ONE to vote for.
We are just livestock to these people and we will continue to lose the things we love that make us canadian untill society decides they have had enough. When will that be? Hopefully before firearms ownership and hunting are gone altogether.

did ya hear about bill c46 that just passed?
Now cops can take your saliva and blood at roadside as part of routine drug/drunk driving checks. Major violation of our charter rights, even Putin took the time to make a comment about Human Rights and Canada's new weed laws and drug/drunk driving laws.

this country is doomed.

Yes c46 is very troubling.

I hope the supreme court will stop it but whos got 200k and 7 years to spare?
