Anyone here seen the new Mauser M18 rifle?

Why not?

Or, know where it can be found?

It's not really a Mauser, push feed and three locking lugs, but it has a wonderful bolt handle. ;)

Such waste of money. Race to the bottom - M03, M12, M18. Now they can't even match finish on barrel and receiver.

The sauer 100xt is a better rifle and comes with bottom metal. The same company makes both Sauer and Mauser from what i read and you can see the similarities. The Sauer can also be bought in most European and NA chamberings unlike The New Mauser M18 which at this point is only offered in 308. Both can be had for the same price.

My range report/mini review post 34. I limit myself to 2 or 3 big game rifles and have cycled through most mid range brands (Tikka T3 & 3X,Browning XBolt,Ruger, Kimber Hunter, Sauer 100 Classic XT , Steyr ProHunter etc). I'll probably get flamed for saying this but I feel the M18 trumps them all at its price point. I hope to replace my .308 with a 300Win. I'm happy to try and answer any questions or provide info.

^ nice one

Is it a true short action? And is there any play in the removable recoil pad? What was the damage shipped to your door?

One action size. Recoil pad is solidly attached when snapped into place. I think the intent is to offer various thicknesses of recoil pads in the future to adjust LOP. The internal butt stock space is large enough to hold a bore snake...seems like an afterthought. The only con I've found is that the safety is LOUD but the operator can control that.
Dealers price was 899 + tax plus reasonable shipping rate (I think approx $20) I've paid far more for rifles that didn't match the Mauser's blend of quality and finish.

Re the references to Sauer. Yes they are similar-my spare mag is a Sauer mag which is interchangeable with the Mauser. To me, the Mauser stock feels better and more rigid than the Sauer or Tikka stock. ie. Soft grip panels vs plastic fish-scale. However the Sauer is more attractive rifle imho.

Guess with the way the dollar is going this is the new normal for budget rifles.

I really like that bolt handle. The snap off pad bothers me. If you have handled the higher end models how does the stock compare?

I always liked the m12 stock. Nice irons on them too but I doubt we will see those.

Bolt is nice-3 lugs vs tikka's 2 . Easy to #### and cycle. Never touched a high end Mauser-out of my league, can't offer any comparisons for you. The pad is rock solid and totally secure my friend.

Dgradinaru-That's a great price on the Sauer compared to what I found!!! Omer at Precision Optics still has the M18 listed at 899. Mags are costly.

And the sad thing is the EE has plenty of excellent steel walnut/b&c type rifles for less than a grand.

People may do as they please with their money.
