Lab Radar - Bluetooth

I've been playing with the Android app on my Samsung. Initially I had trouble connecting to the radar, but I rebooted my phone, powered off the radar and started fresh, powering on the radar first, then opening the App. It shows either disconnected or connection error until I hit the button for connecting again (it will be your LabRadar with your serial number) then it's connected. It works good, and I like being able to more easily change the bullet weights and such, but I would prefer an even simpler setup for that, so that you can change bullet weights on the fly, even after the readings are taken. This is a pure IPSC thing though, so I'll probably have to wait for someone to make an app that works with it which is dedicated for that purpose. I do like being able to arm and disarm from my phone too, didn't expect that

OK, got a LabRadar as a birthday present and after some teething problems I have managed to get the settings done so that it works pretty well. I also installed the Bluetooth firmware upgrade from the LabRadar website (currently A:1.2.1 B:1.0.0 as I write this) and the iOS app from the App Store. Some nice features in the app like being able to arm and disarm, and look at the data, etc without having to fiddle-fart with the LabRadar itself. In other words, the LabRadar can be placed more conveniently for the firearm since you normally shouldn't have to be able to get to the control keys. BUT, has anyone else found problems with losing Bluetooth communications while the LabRadar is in armed mode. Pretty frustrating little problem. Blasting away and look over to see the orange light is on but no comms back to my iPhone app. It seems to work for a while then up and quits. Definite PITA. It appears to be happening on the LabRadar side but I can't be certain. The LabRadar is still running and recording shots but nothing on the iOS device and all control of the LabRadar is lost from the app side. Shutting down and restarting the app on the iPhone does nothing other than bring up the app's Labradar connection screen which looks to connect then immediately disconnect - it flashes something but it is too quick to read. The only way to re-establish connection is to turn off the LabRadar and restart it, then reconnect via the iPhone app. It works for a while and eventually fails again. I have reported it to LabRadar. Hopefully others who find the same problem report is as well so that a fix gets escalated.

One other item of note is that one STILL cannot get a list of the V0 (muzzle) velocities on the screen. You have to go into each shot individually to get at this data. What a royal PITA - but nothing as compared to the Bluetooth problem. That needs to be resolved quickly.

Have not had any comms issues with Bluetooth.

The Series Details screen gives you the average V0 for all the shots in that series. To me that's what I'm interested in.
If I want to see V0 for each shot I go into the Shots Details screen and hit right arrow to see V0 (and other data) for each shot.

I find my iphone goes to sleep and when I wake it up, it has to restart the connection with the unit, which delays what I want to do. I guess the solution is to increase the wake time on the phone at the expense of battery life.

Can I get the data (the .csv files) off the SD card by bluetooth if I pair the unit to my laptop?

I haven’t had these issues as of yet using my iPhone. It works just the way Paul_T said. Are those of you having the issues using the AA batteries only or using the battery pack. I found the first time I only used the AA batteries and when they started to get low I started getting missed shots but didn’t loose Bluetooth.
One thing that does irritate me is if I used my iPhone at the range then use my iPad when I get home to view things I have to click on the each series list to save it otherwise the information won’t be in the shot list even though all of the lists are there. All lists show zeros instead of the actual numbers.

I have been using the AA batteries but it doesn't seem to matter what level of charge is left. It just randomly loses comms and only when the unit is in armed mode. It continues to work but I just can't get at it from the iPhone. I have been reading a couple of other web sites threads about this issue and one person mentioned deleting the app and re-installing it I have done so but I haven't had an opportunity to test it out. I have a large capacity battery pack on order but it will probably be another week before it shows up.

Yes but sometimes (rarely mind you), the data isn't perfect. Not sure how it happens but every so often I'll get a V0 that is totally outrageous (like 4456fps) when the normal is in the range of 2675fps V0, and you don't get to see the one that is nuts without going through each data point.

New version of firmware is out - A: 1.2.2 here: mylabradar.com/download/ I have installed it and connected to it but will not get an opportunity to thoroughly test it out for a while.

That's what the readme type blurb says - minor bugfixes. No other info provided.
