I'm wondering, with now the stag 10 coming in as a NR ar 10 platform, we now have 3 offerings for AR 10 pattern rifles in NR.
Why aren't all our favorite gunstores stocking 18.5 inch barrels in DPMS pattern in 308 and 6.5?
I would imagine these would sell like hotcakes direct to us. Instead we now have to revert to dealing with importers to get us barrels from the USA.

The Stag 10 was just announced a week ago. And the BCL 102 buyers that swapped out the barrels dried up the avaible inventory for NR AR10 barrels. Before these NR firearms the market didn’t buy a lot of these NR barrels, so why would a store bring in a bunch to sit on? You’ll see more this summer I’m sure. Not everything is instant. Businesses in the firearms industry are slower then other industries, as the market can be hit or miss, especially in a small market like Canada.

I agree, it takes growing demand and time out on the market to warrant dealers bringing in products that would generally sit on a shelf for quite a while.

Don't see a reason why we won't see this all start to change in the near future with the current NR offerings becoming available

I don't see many lightweight 20" AR10 barrels kicking around, either. In the US market most people running a 20"+ barrel are target shooting off the bench, not run and gun. The move n shoot crowd seems to prefer 16" or 18" barrels so those are readily available in light profiles. I don't have an AR10 but I wanted a NR length 30-cal AR15 barrel to ream into a 7.62x40WT. But there's definitely no 18.5"+ 300 BLK barrels to be had!

The gun laws have really screwed up our market compared to the USA. Heck, we only started getting compact pistols once the Yanks got into suppressors. Suppressor ready version of a 4" pistol has enough barrel length to not be prohib up here.

There was a supply of 18.5 and 20 inch 7.62 barrels that dealers had sitting on shelves - it seemed that 2 days after the Stag announcement they were gone. People had initially gone hard for the BCL, then found out they weren't spectacular, so dealers had inventory left.

RCMP guidelines are to use a rod to measure barrel length. Breech face of closed bolt to muzzle face.

In the case of the AR, this method includes the gap between the bolt nose and the barrel face, plus the bolt face counterbore. That adds a bit to the length, less than .1" compared with the length of the tube itself.

Buy a 20, 22,24 whatever, chop it to desired length.
You can do this yourself, with a hacksaw.
Then bring it to smith ,for recrowning and threading.
Should take no more than an hour.

nope, wrong! they dont include the barrel extension whereas we do as per rcmp guidelines
my 18inch noveske spr is exactly 18.5 inches

Once again you’re wrong. Rod down the bore resting in the bolt face just like Tiriaq said.

Barrel extension is a separate piece.
