Hey all,

Does anyone have a problem with their BCL-102 made charging handle reciprocating with the bolt carrier? Out of 5rds, i usually get smacked in the face 3 times. No, i am not crowding the charging handle with my nose.

Any insight into why the charging handle would be travelling with the bolt carrier would be appreciated.

I would assume it’s binding on the gas key, either where the gas key goes through the end or where the CH rides on top of the key. I’d check both areas for abnormal wear or shape. Outside of the firearm run the CH along the key and see if you can feel it catching anywhere. Modify the CH not the gas key if it’s catching/binding.

I know this is an old thread but I am having the same problem the gun ran flawlessly for roughly 1000 rounds now I'm getting the charging handle in the face way to often... I couldn't feel any resistance between the BCG and charging handle when out of the rifle do I need a new charging handle or bcg?? Mine is a gen to with BCLs ambi charging handle. Any help would be greatly appreciated I really like the gun but getting hit in face with the charging handle is getting old real fast lol

Its a special feature, you should be thankful to NEA/BCL for not charging you extra $$$ for the reciprocating charging handle...

Train hard my friends. "

^^LOL.

Check the latch pocket for rounding wear. I got my first upper replaced under warranty around the 1200rd mark but it started happening somewhere over 600rds or so for me.

Does one of the “wings” on the charging handle feel strange when you pull it?

No it works fine to release the charging handle I think the latch that holds the charging handle to the upper is wornamd no longer holding.... it had worn kind of strange I tried tried to file it straight and that did not work so I ordered a raptor charging handle.

My charging handle is having the same issue!

Same problem. It seem to me that the hook of the charging handle worn the pit where it suppose to stand. The metal of the upper is gone. It is softer than the handle.

^^^ After about 1200rd mark mine was basically every cycle. I was able to tig-weld and re-machine latch pocket with slightly more depth to catch on. then beadblasted and refinished upper with KG Gunkote..

The 6061 combined with a marginal depth for latch pocket just isn't quite up to snuff IMO. KG thus far seems to be holding up better than BCL's coating whatever it was.

Mine would slide when I pulled straight on it. So I took a flat file to square it off and I haven't had an issue since. It was slightly rounded so it just wouldn't catch.
