I picked up a used set of Herrett's grips for an S&W K frame at a gun show a little while ago. They were a bit worn but in good shape. I didn't care for the colour so I decided to refinish them.

As purchased:

I prefer smooth grips on a revolver so removing the checkering was an easy decision.

Stained with a cherry wood stain from Lee Valley.

Finally six hand rubbed coats of Tru Oil.

I think these are going go on my model 18 once the oil is fully dry.

Looks great, TSA taped a Izzy mosin I was flying with and the finish I mean literally all over was peeling off, damn TSA tape and duct tape, I got a complaint and filed for compensation seeing it's a antique rifle fingers crossed

Forgot to add I'm refinishing the stock the metal all came off the top hand guard and the barrel band retainers broke

This^ They turned out great, but they’re going to really shine on the M18.

I'm not so sure about that! The 18 was an old trapper's gun. Carried a lot and shot little. It sports a bunch of honest wear, nicks and dings but it still shoots well. Pictures as soon as the oil is dry and set.

They look great on there. A little honest wear gives the gun a little character. Well done.
