Hornady 140gr. BTSP #2735
Primer: CCI #250 large rifle magnum

IMR4831 x 59gr = 3183 fps
IMR4350 x 58.5 gr = 3076 fps

I have a new Hornady manual if you want some loads. PM me with you email address. The board is going down tomorrow.

In my 7mmwsm with 140 gr Noslers lots of H4831 is very good to group tight

To hunt with I use max Magpro 140gr nosler partitions 3300

Here's my latest stuff. Top stuff is 130 grn Accubonds, bottom is TSXs. Powder for both was H1000. Please note that these results are not really typical for the WSMs, from what I've heard - my gun hits max early, which is why I'm using H1000 for 130 grn bullets.

Lowest charge with accubonds did .5", and the last three groups with TSXs went MOA

First number after the ' ' ' is powder charge.

270 WSM Info

I sure appreciate the info guys I sure aint getting that. I loaded 65 Gr. IMR 4831 & a 130 Hornady & I got 3050 ? I'm not too dazzled yet. But I guess I better try some of these other loads.Tx.gollum

Anyone having brass sizing problems with the 270wsm?After sizing the reloaded rounds are tight to close the bolt on the rifle , new brass or factory ammo no problems.

Not always, but some...I have noticed an increase of approx. 50+ fps going from CCI 250 to WLRM primers. Changing you COL may also affect velocity. Lots of variable which are not stated in the stats that have been provided, you have to tweak it. Given your powder type and charge, using 130's - 3050 seems kinda lame though. I don't want to stick my nose where it don't belong, but based on what I see in my Hornady book, you ought to be careful with that, that is a hefty charge of IMR4831, I wouldn't want to read about you in the paper.

That's a common problem with the shortmags.
The WSMs often require more sizing than regular cartridges. For mine, I turned down the dies until they contacted the shellholder when the ram was at the end of its stroke, then turned the die in another 1/8 of a turn or so, which is just enough so that the bolt closes easily.

Start out with the die set so they contact the shellholder, then turn it down tiny bits at a time until the cases chamber. A pencil mark on the die and the top of the press helps.

It took some work for me. I didn't have a chrony last year, and it turns out my partition load last year was only doing 2900 FPS. That was with 57 grains of H4831 as I recall.

As you can see, though, the powder switch appears to have worked great.

The WSM's have a wee bit of a problem in this area.
The case is so straight sided and the shoulder so steep, some dies will push the base of the shoulder out when full length sizing.
make sure you set your dies so the shell holder bottoms out on the die, and make sure your press is at the camming over point when the two meet.
My 300 WSM dies required that I take a couple thou off my shell holder so the case could enter the die enough to get rid of the shoulder bulge.

I chrony'd my 270 WSM using 130 TSX and 67.0 gr of RL 19 @ 3220. I think I could get a little more velocity with a slower powder such as RL 22, but the accuracy of this load was good out of my rifle.
