Do any of you hunt with your Garand? I was wondering how you are getting past the 8 round clip thing... Only allowed 5 here in Nova Scotia. I called and verified cant just eject out 3 or put 3 snap caps in. Must use an actual 5 round clip. So seeing that these are pretty much rarer then unicorn turds on this side of the border I am wondering how people are getting by... are you just loading single rounds in the chamber without using a clip and using the rifle as a single shot? Are you taking out the Gas plug? Is that even an option? I think any blow hard DNR officer would glow at the opportunity to confiscate your rifle and truck seeing that...

I can't imagine it being that high for shipping. I always select USPS ground and it's reasonable especially for a small parcel. I would worry about duty though these days. I got whacked pretty good on my last order.

Literally just got off the phone with them before i made this post. Thats the cheapest option. Numritch charges a flat rate. I may just order as many as they will send me and then try to flip them. They could be worth a fortune if i was the only one who had any,

You do not need a 5-shot en bloc clip for the M1 Garand rifles. These guns were exempted from the 5-shot semi-automatic magazine capacity laws. You are legally able to carry 8 rounds in the M1 Garand for any purpose, including hunting, anywhere in Canada.

See Regulations Prescribing Certain Firearms and Other Weapons, Components and Parts of Weapons, Accessories, Cartridge Magazines, Ammunition and Projectiles as Prohibited, Restricted or Non-Restricted, Part 4.3.2(iii)

(a) that is capable of containing more than five cartridges of the type for which the magazine was originally designed and that is designed or manufactured for use in

(2) Paragraph (1)(a) does not include any cartridge magazine that

(iii) is commonly known as the U.S. Rifle M1 (Garand) including the Beretta M1 Garand rifle, the Breda M1 Garand rifle and the Springfield Armoury M1 Garand rifle

They can create laws for hunting, it’s provincially regulated. Capacity laws for the Firearms Act and Hunting regs can be different, and are both enforceable. Obviously hunting laws are only more restrictive, as they can’t be less restrictive then the Firearms Act. Ask all the guys who put dowels in pump shotguns for geese/ducks.

yep. Nova Scotia DNR are good at being a stick in the mud. However i did find one just a few minutes ago. Looks like the old girl will be spending some time in the woods this year. Now to figure out a good hunting load for her. I am thinking i will pick up a box of 150 grain sierra game king. Unless someone else has a better suggestion.

Could you not pop rivet some blocks on either side of the clip to create 2 shoulders that still allow the follower to come up the middle yet prevent more than 5 rds from being inserted? The rivets would be considered "permanent" as they are not easily removed like on a magazine restriction but doesn't completely destroy an 8 rd clip. This assuming there enough clearance for the rivets on each side for insertion. Don't have a Garand but I think the idea is sound.

You'll get better responses here than you did on Facebook, for sure. Thread nuke or not, I stand by my comments over there (not to you, but the guys with the incredibly clueless comments).

I know that they are very burn rate specific, if you have not loaded for it take a look at that.

I have only shot one once, helped out a buddy on a good deal buying one, if he ever sells it I have to take out a loan and buy it from him, ha ha ha.
