Who can anodized AR parts up here

Hey guys, I have one of the unfinished receiver kits on their way from sfrc

This is going to be for a ####s and giggles kinda build but was wondering who can anodize restricted firearm parts herei n canada. I thought about trying the art home methodfor funbut dealing well gallons of sulfuric acid on this small island mightbe a pain.

Secondly i think I would like to get it done some sort of color. Think islander fishing reels or performance auto parts. Not the usual black. Any reason not to do the traditional grade 3 anodized hardcoat

And finally what generally are the prices associated with doing things kind of work.
 
Paying someone to do small batch anodizing is incredibly expensive.

Do it yourself. It's really simple. You just need a battery charger and some battery acid from any auto parts store. If you don't need it to be Type 2 hardcoat, it's super easy to do at home. The key to hardcoat is keeping the tempature low and consistent. For at home, small jobs, you could just keep the acid bath container inside an ice bath.

I think Arma-Coat does anodizing (they have it listed in their services but no pricing) so you could Email them and ask. Obviously as a firearms finisher they are able to receive restricted firearms.

However as Armedsask said, it might be a cool fun home project to do yourself! I've thought about doing some things that way, just no time for projects right now. I think the colouring is just a dye once you've anodized the parts in the acid bath.
 
It’s been a long time since I asked but Casey at TacOrd. They don’t do it themselves but rather send it out to the same people that do it for Colt Canada I believe.

Colt Canada uses a company that anodizes lamps.
 
ATRS doesn’t do anodizing in house. They send it to Anderson Anodizing in St. Albert. ATRS has been doing BCL102 receiver sets for some people. I heard it was $150. All the prep work, properly tumbled, send it out with one of their larger batches. Getting a one off colour is going to be expensive. You’ll have to sneak in on a bigger batch with someone else.

Aerospace Metal Finishing. They used to do Colt Canada's, not sure if they still do. When i anodized my lowers they had a $150 minimum charge.

This. Send it to rick, they will put it in with one of their bigger batches.

Why do you say that? If you go to a smaller company that does small batch anodizing then it should not cost that much. I use an industrial place that has a min charge of $200 per basket, but the baskets are huge you can fit so many parts in a basket that it only costs $1-5 per part for anodizing. If I don't have volume I go to a smaller custom shop that does single parts for cheap, were talking $20 here....Thats not expensive IMO
 
AMF is who nea/bcl used before.
Your issue is that you need to make sure the company u use has a BFL ot controlled goods .
If it does not and it goes missing you are looking at jail time.
