Surprised it didnt zip thru like a fmj
I often wonder where the incorrect notion or idea comes from that a bullet traveling too fast will not expand.
GMX are really hard alloys and only expand under high velocity ... So, the right caliber and the right numbers and you're performance will be good, otherwise, not at all.

My thoughts also, looks exactly like ones I recover come spring out of my melting snowbank berm. Amazing that something that heavy, traveling that fast, in that condition would not fully penetrate pretty much any game animal around and be able to be recovered. Wow.Never used a GMX. When I want a monometal, I've always gone with Barnes. Haven't seen a warp 9 failure with a Barnes like Dogleg posted. That's not confidence inspiring. Obviously a defective bullet / lot #. Surprised it was recovered, with such a minimal frontal area. What was the details on the shot Dogleg? If you don't mind typing more than one sentence

A 250gr monometal bullet that grenades and leaves shrapnel everywhere? It was not a small caliber but it was moving fast, I had a 375 ruger gmx grenade on a yogi at close range. Punched a football sized exit hole and left shrapnel everywhere.
Just get some a-frames, they don't fail.
