'Hope the match is a success!

I would have liked to shoot and helped at this match as well but like others have mentioned, I will be in Missouri.

You do in deed need your BB certification.

Luckily I have room in my Waterford course on the 15th and 22nd! LOL

Too bad. Not interested. A handgun holster course seems to have precious little to do with a as yet unknown shotgun course of fire. There are lots of action sports out there that don't seem to require the black badge, and in some cases don't require any such training at all.

Take the Black Badge course, it's alot of fun!

Its also completely unnecessary as a pre-requisite for action shooting sports. BB is but one of a dozen good ways to learn how to run and gun, and arguably since BB doesn't usually cover rifle or shotgun, its not even a very good one. As someone who has been using holsters in action sports since I was 11 years old, getting a black badge seems entirely redundant.

Too bad about the BB thing, would have liked to have shot this.

Me too. I tried going on the IPSC website to look at the match details, but I don't see it listed. Oh well. Just going to have to keep doing my own tactical lead slinger training like a freeman on the land

Would really like to shoot this match. Already booked for a match in Missouri. Good on you guys for getting this started.
14 shotgun stages in a day is pretty ambitious.

Its a shame you cannot be there...............mind you now some of us have hope of a better result!!

14 stages should be doable.............but it will be a long albeit fun day!

Would it be possible to have it set up done by Wednesday? Then, all those going to Missouri can shoot it on Thursday...
Just a thought.

BB also covers safety and competition.
Just like any decent competition there are some prerequisites. You make your own decisions on whether or not the prerequisite is worth the effort to participate in the competition.
You also stated "Its also completely unnecessary as a pre-requisite for action shooting sports." You're wrong. It is a necessary prerequisite if you want to shoot the action shooting sport called IPSC. Some others insist on holster courses. Some others safety courses. etc., etc.

I think some people get hung up on the BB course's holster use aspect...
IMHO it's actually more of a class on how to shoot the game.
I can't imagine showing up to shoot an ipsc match without having been taught the rules.
IIRC my class was 80% how to play the game... the holster skills just happened by default through the drills we did.

I used to think the same way...IPSC wasn’t such a big deal that I wanted to bother with the B.B. when I could shoot other action sports. But I broke down and took the B.B. and man am I glad I did cuz IPSC is worth it. If you enjoy action shooting, it’s definitely worth it...

And I am signed up and ready to go for this match...Can’t wait.

Well put.

Without the BB course I would have had no idea what to do at my first match basically.. Learned a lot and left the class a better shooter.

Same here. For years I refused to pay for the IPSC course; Purely out of spite.
Then one day I finally broke down and took their course, and paid my membership fee.

All of a sudden the number of shooting matches available to me quadrupled.
I felt so stupid for not taking the IPSC course years sooner. So much wasted time.

One has to wonder how all the rest of the people in the World shooting IPSC, do without the Black Badge course? It must be absolute mayhem!

That's actually changing.
IPSC has started rolling out a standardized course to the rest of the world.

We cant shoot level 3 or higher matches here (NZ) without being holster qualified. I cant even remember what the course entailed exactly but it was pretty laid back, only took a couple of hours of teaching and then you got asessed at a club match. I think there was a small fee like 20 bucks? as well.

Even for Rifle or shotgun matches you need to be "holster qualified"?

Unsure but probably not. Need to be H qualified for all level 3s which here is only ever handgun. Our shotgun and rifle matches only ever reach the dizzying heights of level 2 at the mo. I wouldnt have thought it would matter but if youve got a holster Q number it at least means youve done the safety course, which carrys over to ipsc rifle and shotgun to some extent.

I have never bothered to look into it properly, i just did the course and jumped in.
