besides buying a P226 (I think someone might say this so I will give the response first... I have plans to do so actually since I think the P226 design is just awesome)

The thing is.. it is a random thing for each new mag tested. Some will work just fine never has an issue. Some will either randomly no slide lock or mag will drop on last round or even after shot any round randomly. I labelled these mags and separated them into two piles (working or not working). I kinda doubt the gun is the issue here because both factory mags never had this happened and some Mec-gar mags run just perfect. Anyone had this happened before? Were you able to fix them? If no fix then I will leave the 'bad' pile waiting for the read P226 I guess.

So there are two problems you're reporting - mags that are not clicked into place, or somehow come unclicked, and the slide lock.

Be careful with adjusting the mag release hole - it could cause the mag to sit lower in the magwell, and affect the slide lock.

I'd load a mag with snapcaps, seat the mag fully, press the mag release, and see if the mag can be pushed "up" any more. If it does, then there's a good chance the hole is too large, or mag release catch is too small, causing the mag to sit too low to be reliable. But it would have to have significant more "up" movement available to it, for that to be a problem.

Rack each snapcap through - after each round, check to see if the mag has moved down any. Is the mag release button still OK - hasn't wiggled or been pressed in accidentally (happens).

When you rack back the last round, look at the mag follower, to ensure it engages the slide lock. Now, the Mag spring and the power of the cartridge can both affect the slide lock - either the slide-lock isn't getting pushed up consistently, or the slide is not coming back far enough (limp-wristing, or light load can do that).

Another thing to look at is the fit and finish of the slide lock, and components. Since I'm trying to think of everything that could be a cause, the NP pistol may have some resistance in the slide lock, which could make it not raise quickly enough or far enough to engage, if the slide got back far enough.

If it all seems to work well at home, see if you can have someone record slow-mo zoomed in on the left side magwell and slide lock, to see if any problems are happening too fast to see, like short-stroking the slide.

I have the same mags and it was a slight problem when they were new. I just gave it a bigger love tap going in and had no problems. Just have to be a little more aggressive with them.
