It's not .30 however, :bangHead::bangHead:

this happened today, in form of the .36-06 Teeka Tee3, them Round nosed 250gr from about 100-120m across gulley in beautiful gulley.
ive left the camera in my Hut but ill update tomorow night.

Story goes like this...

i had a free day the following day, i had got a little prepped but fell asleep on the couch, i got woken up by the dogs at 4am, i made a cuppa T an logged on here an elsewhere, an had a few cigerettes before i thought i would just go up to my bush hut an await light at 7 am, hours ticked on an i got the fire raging inside.. done a few things on the hut an watched the Fog roll in over the Frosty (-2c) landscape.

this kept me going an warm inside

it was 8:30 am when i went out for a leak an as i neared my vehicle, over the tray i see a Sambar Stag standing there looking at me in the fog.......... WTH..

i had a 303 round in my pocket so i reached into the ute to find a 303 an gave a breif chase to no avail, but it killed an hour anyway...

closer to 11 i decided i needed a cuppa ana Siesta...(nap)

2 hours later, Im awake... an in need of a Cuppa.

So I got up and made a quick cuppa before textin a Farmer to say I wont be in today as I've changed plans..... by now im only 5 hours late than expected :D , I chose a spot the day prior that i tossed up weather to go an check out or not, the Fringe provided easier hunting but this Big Gulley always draws my attention.
the Draw back to the place is it gets heavily hunted and spotlights whiz past most weekends an the odd mid week runner........ however in the past I've pulled out a 27 incher near by an numerous hinds all by matter of getting into the bush away from the tracks.

I pulled up around 1:30pm and snuck my vehicle up the track another few hundred meters to a spot i could get off the track, picked higher up than starting down in the valley incase of having been hunted the hours before..

This big gulley cops alot of Sun on the sunny side face, funny that, So even though it was Lunch time , I planned to sneak up into it on the shadey , whilst glassing into the sunny and sit atop the hill for few hours before walking out directly down through the gulley.

Pulled up, loaded up and began the trek, meandering slowly as i went, ears ####ed and eyes working the landscape infront of me..

contouring on game trails i knew headed into a Wallow, i'd not seen the wallow in 12 months or so and decided it was a good place to start.

An hour an a half into the bush stalk and theres a fair amount of Wildlife hangin in the trees an going about their business, as i did mine... the tell tale Alert birds piped up not long after the parrots rose and moved off, squabbling at times but alas nothing moved from the gulley below.
a feeder gulley shot off to my left, reasonably open an just out of sight of the wallow, i decided the fallen tree would make a great makeshift Hide and I would sit here for 10 minutes before proceeding further up into the Valley.

the faint noise of stick knocking an perhaps a faint splashing sound at times, mud suction sound, hit my ears and directed my attention to the wallow, which was just over the rise out of sight....

sure enough about 3 minutes later, the bird noise increased, more 'alerting' and with that the Brown shadows swiftly but silenty moved through the mature gum forest infront of me, at my level , making a get away up and out of the area...
i seen a Big Brow an thats generally enough for me to swing a safety off and point the Tube in its direction, typical sambar behaviour had him stop behind the biggest trees an move quick to the next, check an move again...

I could not get the Zeiss on him until he had made up his mind to depart, I picked a gap a few meters infront of him an as expected the Bugger turned angled away and began to 'trot' but not to be outdone the Tikka also decided to take off aswell, as soon as Neck entered the scope I slapped one off!
there was no noise, just the echo rolling through the Valley, i reloaded and waited, and waited and waited, I strategically left my Smokes in the ute this time... what was i to do.
I waited, and while waiting the only noise I heard was a few seconds later, typical noise of a Departing Sambar as it cut across a face....

kept my hopes in my pocket for a while and thought i best investigate the Wallow just slightly below me, an slightly below where I'd last seen the stag..

She's a beauty!

i soon got onto the Print left by the Stag as he had dripped mud from only wallowing moments prior..

Then I began filming the route the deer took, zig zagged as He did, snooped along where he did....
i took a breather and looked down, low an behold, I see a bit of Blood........

excited more by now, yet with my track record of 9.3x62 and Sambar of recent outings, i didnt excite too much, that was until i did a 360 view and right down next to a Gumtree was my Prized animal......

I was actually PUMPED by now! The bugger ran into me Woodleigh :D

Being covered in mud i ummed an arred, then filmed myself explain why i wasnt goin to cape this one out ............ looked like hard work.. :D

i set up some photos and then went about getting my newly acquired deer skin prize!

then Walked back to the ute, finally got a Drink of water and a Ciggy..... blood sweat an smoke rings, you beauty!
it was now close to 4pm, out just intime to piss off back to the hut an warm right up!!

100-120m shot angling AWAY HARD, projectile entered well back an was in the front end of deer somewhere, aiming to hit the far shoulder as one should ..... ps- Not for sale :D:D

i hope so ...on the pic the bullet hole is too far back ..unless that is were the bullet came out ...[passthrough]

Too far back?
Not for a quartering away shot.
I've personally, never had to attempt a "Texas heart shot" but if I trusted the penetration ability of the bullet, it's a legitimate shot.

(I'm sure glad my quote didn't change with the edit)

Gday guys,
Some good hunters out there who can Tell a Anglin away shot from a gut shot deer! Glad too see.

The story will continue tonight....... Before jumping to conclusions and assumptions from the Photo.

BP, il let it slide today...

You betcha Rob!! ;) he went 20ms an piled up too!
