They lengthened them to 18.5” quite a few years back so that the barrel would be flush with their +2 extension. For some reason they still refer to them as 18”.

I have an older law enforcement Wingmaster and it is 18”.

Its always important to consider the agendas of the people who push these laws, and I'm not talking about the official garbage that is fed to the media because theres no question that fails the litmus test

I’ve never seen an extension on the mag tube. Not saying we don’t, I’ve just never heard of it.
 
This is interesting. I have had one for sale on the EE for a while, perhaps I will keep it now. I'll take a measurement also. It is hands down the most accurate AR barrel I have ever shot.

Why am I not surprised. Basically the same measurement as my BA barrel. 18" + bolt face depth. Brings it to 18 1/8" +/- a couple thousandths.

I suspect EVERY American manufactured 18" barrel is going to measure out the same.

Buy a 20" or one of the barrels I posted earlier that has been made specifically to meet our NR length requirements. Or go with a custom made barrel.

We don't have many options however with the new NR receiver sets I'm sure more and more options will become available.
 
For a company as reputable Noveske and their attention to detail, it shouldn't be a surprise when they say 18" SPR barrel they actually mean 18".
