We'd all buy it, but who would hunt with it?

Cleaning up my hard drive I came across this pic from the CZ store in Prague I took a couple years ago on a trip:

cz_custom.jpg

The price at the time worked out to about $2K Cdn due to more favorable exchange rates. Largely irrelevant, because the inlaid Ivory would make it impossible to export from the Czech Republic. It's from their "Diamond" level from their in house custom shop.

Now, I can't think of a gunny who wouldn't love to have something of this level, but I've often wondered, would I be able to bring myself to shoot it?

Would never buy it, so the issue of shooting it is moot.

I absolutely appreciate the craftsmanship that represents, but I have no use for such a gun. I don't buy jewel encrusted watches (as an example) either for the same reason. I'm not rich enough to own ostentatious affectations.

I have one simple rule with all of the guns I purchase. If it sits in the safe without use it gets sold.

It’s funny, what you wind up with is a safe or two full of all the guns you like to hunt with.

The gun in picture is not my thing but if I owned it I would shoot it.

I wouldn't hunt with it because I wouldn't shoot it. And I wouldn't shoot it because I wouldn't buy it. And I wouldn't buy it because I think that rifle is ugly as sin.

Sorry OP, I appreciate the workmanship that goes into something as detailed as that however I just don't see the attraction to this rifle. To each their own.

It would be a beautiful gun to buy for my Daughter to hunt with... how much would they cost now? Say without the Ivory? maybe with something else nice inlayed there.... I have a few years to save she is only 6yrs old now.

even if $3k ish that isn't unheard of and as an heirloom gift why not for something special like graduating university etc...

For $2k I would definitely love to own of these. I wouldn't hunt with it because I gave up hunting for reasons I'd rather not talk about. As far as shooting it, only on special occasions. That one day a year that "I feel pretty oh so pretty", When my Cousin in law from Texas comes up to shoot, and on the odd occasion that my mom decides she want to come shooting with me.

I’d shoot it and hunt with it at $2000 if that’s what it really is. I’d buy that over a SAKO. CZ’s Safari Classic II is 85,000 Koruna which is about $5000 CND, so I’m having a hard time believing that gun is $2000.
