I've been looking at the three barrel lengths and wondered if any of you own one in R or NR and can give me your pros and cons.

I like the SOCOM version but being R I'm wondering if the 18" barrel would be comparable?

Also wood or fiberglass? I've never owned either so wondering on which material would be superior?

The 22" seems just too much barrel unless specifically shooting long distance.

I own a SOCOM 16, and I would not enjoy having a longer barrel but I do not shoot further than 200 yards...... it's loud and pretty precise with only the iron sights.

I kept it with the original factory stock in FDE...

I live in Montreal, so it doesn't matter if a rifle is R or NR..... I can only shoot at a club

How much did you pay and is it everything you thought it would be as a unit?

I will surprise you, but I got it brand new in the EE for $1600 last year...... that's the reason I bought it.

I was looking for a battle proven rifle in 308, and I got a real good rifle I will keep for life (I wish I could have a FN FAL.....)
