Winchester RCMP commemorative question

Interest in the Winchester commemoratives is generally higher in the US than it is here in Canada. IIRC, over the last couple or three years the more common RCMP serialed ones have been selling in the neighbourhood of between $550 and $700. The MP serialed ones command higher prices - probably closer to the $800+ mark...

"...unfired and in the box..." Are the boxes still sealed? If not the limited value drops. There's really not a lot of collector interest in commemoratives. You'd have to find somebody who wants them. Even when there are fewer of the type you have.

Picked up an unfired Canadian Centennial Win 94 octagon barrel rifle a few months back for $400.00. Great price for a 40 year old rifle. Prices seem to be much higher in the States for Win commemoratives. Funny though, the last rifles produced by Winchester (Trails End with octagon barrel and cresent butt) sold new for over $800.00 but aren't as well made as the older commemoratives. Very fickle market up here. I've seen all sorts of commemortives ranging in price from $400.00 to $800.00 and most of them unfired in mint condition.

Here are some pics of my RCMP commemorative and yes it IS and MP model!

Winchester value question

Thanks to those of you who posted useful answers to the question of value. Thanks as well to death -junky for posting a picture of the rifle he has, although I really wasn't asking anyone if they actually owned one, and am not sure why he posted a picture of his since it was not relevant in any way............

Cheers

Ed

Because this is the INTRAWEB, dude!!

death-junky your rifle looks like an RCMP serial number and not an MP. The MP inscription doesn't mean anything, look at the serial number under the receiver. It will either start with RCMP###XX or MP######. I couldn't find an image of the MP version but IIRC they look a little different. Your's look like my RCMP model.
