looking to put a 4-12x 40 scope on a weatherby vanguard 300 weatherby mag. would like to have the best optics/quality with a "longer" eye relief what comes to mind, under 500 bucks

I go for used leupolds - vx111 $350-$450 range or vx11 for up to $300
Small marks don't matter to me and leupolds have lifetime transferable warranty
Also one of the best eye relief

Hopefully there's no clones of the older models

This. There to s a ton of value in the used VX3 scopes from Leupold.

With a serial number and picture of the serial number area Leupold will confirm if it is a genuine and Canadian import compliant.
Not hard for them to confirm it, at least from my experiences.

Vortex Diamond back HP and Diamondback AO would also be worth a look. I've been into Bushnell as well. Elite 3500 can still be found and the 4-12X40 is a nice unit. I prefer the multi X over the DOA 600.

Get a Leupold for eye relief. Vortex glass is beautiful but their eye relief isn't much. Bushnell glass quality doesn't compare even on their 6500 line. Nikon Monarch 3 is really nice glass but not sure what the eye relief is.

Wound up putting on a Leupold freedom 4-12 x 40. awesome and also gained some eye relief for those awkward positioned shots that were too close to the eyebrow for comfort
