Handgun for prohibition

You need a thicker skin bud. I don't anyone is putting you down, gentle ribbing maybe, anyway you are looking for a 9mm. What about surplus Beretta or Sig police trade-in? They are around your price range. Checkout Tradex and other vendors on this forum or better yet, place a wanted ad. Good luck:)

There's different ways of saying the same thing and good natured ribbing is more than welcome. But leading with "poor mentality" in the post to which he took exception is arrogant and judgmental. Crosses the line and has nothing to do with political correctness.

Thanks for the advice for those who provided constructive comments. I found something on the EE that is affordable and will protect my rights in the event there is ban with prohibition. I’ll also get to have a bit of fun too!

Something?

:)

Unfortunately we don't have property rights or gun rights in Canada but at least you can have a small taste of "privileged" freedom.

Enjoy.

I'm a new rpal holder and I don't have a handgun yet. I've been saving for one but I'm a bit worried about the potential ban from the liberals. Just for the sake of this post, let's say it does happen and current handgun owners are grandfathered. If this scenario occurs I want to be sure that I am included. On the other hand if it is confiscation without repayment I don't want to be out a pile of money.

I am interested in a pistol, no revolvers. Likely 9mm and try to keep it under $300-$350 for something off the EE. Does anyone have suggestions to something in that price range that would be a good entry level pistol.

The one thing you learn about this site is it is full of doom and gloomer's, experience has and will show that things are never as bad as the rumours.

I was looking at a smith and wesson sd9ve but ended up getting a Remington Rp9. There are some mixed reviews on it but I thought I would give it a shot.

Right on, I hope the price was right..... I haven't heard to much here in Canada about the RP9's.
Good luck.

Tokarevs especially Norinco Chinese versions are still under $250 or a 22 pistol or Norinco 9mm will all cost you around or under $400.

If you just in to buy a potential risk license go with that. I say to heck with the government and their gun grabbing ways.... I do not consent to a gun grab I have broken no law and creating a law putting me at no commission of my own is not a just law. I oppose such tyranny.

If you want a 9mm, one of our site sponsors SFRC has the NP22 on for $360.00 and the more compact NP 34 on for $340.00; they have a 15% sale on until tomorrow so that puts the NP22 at $306.00 and the NP34 at $289.00: https://www.theammosource.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=2_3_73 They also have the NP58 and the 1911 commander on for similar prices.

I have 3 Norinco pistols and I love them all; but out of them the NP58 (NP22 in .40 S & W) is the nicest of the three. I have also the NZ58 and one of their 1911s, they are all accurate and all have great features; and I don't find that I shoot one better than the other; I do find myself grabbing the 1911 more often though.

You can get Spanish Star Super B in 9mm for $300 all day long. I’ve owned the norincos and tt33 and I’d take a Star over them anyday. The norincos feel cheap I don’t care what anyone says, I like tt33 but cleaning everytime you come home because of corrosive ammo gets old quick. If you want something as guys have said the S&W Sdv9 is a good option.

Personally I’d save a little more and look for a used S&W M&P 9 off the EE. I’ve seen them as low as $400 and then you truly have a VERY solid gun.

they cant 'ban' within a day... read up on how laws get enacted... look at c-71, and the latest bill/law for marijuana.

I obviously dont mean a literal day, but it takes a long time to make such an amendment in the criminal code... you'll have LOTS of forewarning if something does start as a "handgun ban" bill.

Not to be a negative ninny, and I could be wrong, but I don't think they need a law, just an OIC to add handguns to the list of prohibited items. It could be done already for all we know, and will find out about it when the Gazette comes out.

There is lots of fun to be had by picking a gun in the non-restricted class and avoiding a lot of hassles including possible storage restrictions & confiscation down the road.
A pretty decent non-restricted 22LR rifle can be had for less than $200 that you can take to the bush plinking and hunting in most provinces.

Unless it's a semi, in which case you run the same risk of having your gun prohibed out from under you, 22lr included. Semi's are on the same to do list as handguns.
