After firing roughly 650 rounds through my Maccabee in the last two days, I thought it’s time to review it. Spent the weekend camping in a gravel pit and on crown land.

First of all, the receiver set is well built. Anodizing looks swell and I cannot see any scratches on my set - thanks MDI.

My build consists of the Maccabee receiver and a Del-Ton AR-15 20" Government rifle kit. My handguard was purchased second hand off of CGN. The whole build costs me around $1,650 which is rather on the cheap side of Maccabee builds. No fancy trigger, my handguard is used and the barrel isn’t the best one either (1:9 twist, 5.56 NATO). But hey, it looks kinda old-school which I wanted to achieve in this world of over-tactical guns.

Shooting is a pleasure, love it. Feels like a freaking real AR and is pretty accurate. I shot up to 300 yards (open sights) and was able to hit targets the size of 20 inch by 20 inch. Dirt isn’t an issue - kept firing. Bolt catch worked with my MFT mags and my Magpul one. Of my 650 rounds, 2 ended up in jamming the gun: one round failed to extract and the other failed to load into the chamber.

Of my many mags I tested (MFT, LAR, Magpul PMAG, .50cal Beowulf) only the MFT ones would drop free if empty (or full). All the others would drop free half of the time or never. I don’t really care because I believe the 10rds MFT pistol mags are superior to the others. Ammo I used was Remington (55 grain) and AE (55 grain).

All in all, I love this gun. Thanks to MDI for launching it and thanks to CSC for putting it together. I finally got the gun I dreamed about when I obtained my PAL. Yes, I know it has not a 100% Vietnam-era look - cannot afford more right now. And no, I will never put an optic on it, never have been a big fan of them.

I was planning on going to chas in the next couple days but not sure if I'm going to have all the parts it's taken more than 4 days to get stuff from Red Deer to Edmonton...

Great build, looks slick. I want one.
Will these work with Law Tactical folder adapter? And is there a long waiting list for these? If not where can I get one?

The Law Tactical Folding Stock Adapter works with direct impingement or gas piston systems and fits A2, carbine, mil-spec or commercial buffer tube and stocks. It can be used with standard bolt carrier groups including: full auto, semi auto, 5.56 to .308.

Yes, very long wait list.
