M&P9 2.0 question/help

I bought a new M&P 2.0 because I really enjoyed the first generation. I liked the improvements on the 2.0 except for one.

The 2.0 has that little extra spring on the slide lock that prevents the slide from dropping forward upon loading a mag. I liked the auto forward on the 1st gen.

Is there a way to remove the little spring to make the 2.0 auto forward? If so how?

Get quicker on your reloads and handling and it won't matter. (I don't mean that as a diss)

I know it was considered a defect but I actually liked it. I am not concerned with being as fast as possible. Part of my like of the defect was that it was different from other guns
 
Auto forward on my MP40 works 95% of the time when slamming a mag in

That is an Improper way to make the slide go forward and a super bad habit......I still have a tendency to try this on my other pistols, which again is a bad habit and unreliable......I personally have to get away from doing this and ALWAYS use the slide release
 
If you are a competitor the "defect" some refer to was a nice feature, a feature I might add that that is not exclusive to the M&P pistol.

If you can lesson the spring tension that activates the slide release you might be able to reduce the "fix" and still have your slide stop/release work. Try asking the folks over on the Smith & Wesson Forum

This is your answer. Auto forwarding is not a feature on any pistol. It's a result of poor design and/or excessive force when inserting a magazine.
 
"Auto Slide Release" may seem like a feature to us Canadians since chances are you're inserting a loaded mag at the range while pointing in a safe direction.

But if you're an American with a CCW license and you're loading up at home in the morning it can be a little unsettling.

Why? If you are going to CCW you are going to have the gun loaded. All that is different is the slide closes on a cartridge, loading the gun which in the absence of the slide going forward automatically the individual would do it manually. What difference would it make. When handling a gun you always be aware iof where the gun is pointing.

If a person will be "unsettled" when loading a gun for CCW because of an auto slide release, that person really should leave the gun in the safe. They are clearly unfit to carry.
