Glock 17 purchase

not with out an issue. That's how buldged barrels happen. That's best case scenario. Worst case is getting seriously hurt or having someone else getting hurt if they shoot the gun. Guy should be banned from EE!

Pictures of this are amazing.

Not true, HK specifically tests their barrels to clear an intentional bore obstructed projectile by firing another behind it without damage to the firearm. Glock like HK uses CHF barrels which are significantly stronger than broach cut barrels. Serious injury is unlikely as a catastrophic failure is also unlikely.

Why not? On the few occasions I have had to move a stuck bullet I think I've always used wood dowels. Also use them for slugging bores.

I agree it's unlikely to hurt anyone, but strongly disagree that firing another behind the first would be without issue. Either the second bullet will stick behind the first, or more likely the barrel will bulge or split. If you try to shoot it out, remove the bullet from the second cartridge.

I never said it would be without issue, just that the likelihood of having an issue is minimal at best.

Like Battlerife, I'd like to know why a brass rod is better than a wooden dowel, it seems to me that the dowel is going to be the most harmless thing of the two. When I was shooting white box W ammo, an 8 mm section of dowel had a place of honour in my range bag.

As far as the suggestions that one could just shoot an obstruction out of a barrel and that no harm will come from a bursting one, all I can say is that I was not brought up with that same advice and I still have all the guns I started with plus all my fingers, both eyes, and have never been sued by someone standing beside me on the range.

A wood dowel would likely work in most cases, but it has the possibility of splitting along it's grain structure, if you're whacking it pretty hard and driving the split piece of dowel into the edge of the bullet and bore - and wedging the bullet even tighter. A brass rod has much less flex and is more efficient at transfering the energy from the hammer to the bullet, resulting in fewer and lighter strikes.

Yes it could be done and has been done plenty of times(not always intentionally). I'm not suggesting you do it, just that the risk of serious injury is quite low. A quality barrel will save you from damage, but may end up damaged or destroyed in the process.

Have a watch. Note the bullet has expanded and thus already bulged the barrel.

If there were ever a reason to leave negative feedback that would be a great example! I stopped buying used guns from the EE almost entirely years ago because of crap like this.

I bet another live round would push the first out without issue.

Stupidest thing I have read today for sure...

HAHA, then you're not looking very hard on this forum, or in life in general.

I beg your pardon? Taken directly from post #15 in this thread:

Right, " I bet another live round would push the first out without issue." Note the word BET, meaning I'm confident but not absolutely certain. I would shoot it.
