I sent a question in to Glock a couple days back and received a answer the next day on a question that has been banging around in my head for a couple months now.

This was my thinking.....
I currently have a G19TB so its the threaded barrel version on the G19 which gives it a long enough barrel to be legal in Canada.
couple months back they came out wit the G19 Canadian Version with a 106mm barrel.
just now they have released the G19X which again has the G19 106mm barrel.
I dont really like having a threaded barrel on my G19.
On Glocks web page you can buy the normal G19 OEM barrel straight from them (well, we cant because its too short)

so with all that info my question to them was simple.... will Glock be selling the 106mm G19 barrel separately to Canadians at any point?

the answer was this:

From - Canada (Canada@Glock.us)

Hi #########,

Thanks for your inquiry and support of GLOCK. We are not yet producing standalone 106 mm G19 barrels but plan to later this year or at the latest early in 2019.

######XX

so, there we have it straight from the source!
Glock will be making available OEM 106mm G19 barrels to us.
i guess the question now is are all the G19's using the same barrel??? (Gen1 -> Gen5)

I was wondering if they would release it as a stand alone purchase. I had a G19TB, but traded up to a FDE 19Gen4, with Lone Wolf barrel. I like the LW barrel more, but the not the way it wears. I will absolutely upgrade to a 106mm Glock barrel if they get here (and 1 for my G26 as well).

Gen 1-4 can use the same barrels, not positive on the 5 but I believe it does too.

No problems, just ugly

I'll be in for a 106mm barrel from Glock

Hmmm. I see. It would make sense to me on a pretty gun, but on a Glock...

I think the threaded barrel matches the utilitarian look of the Glock quite well. To each his own.

It's not exactly that all barrels are interchangeable, but more so the newer ones will work fine on older generations, but "allegedly" may not work the other way around. I say allegedly because I've read reports saying so, but never any proof or personal experience to back that up.

The difference between a gen 3 barrel and a gen 4 barrel is the relief cut on the barrel to accommodate the recoil spring. Because the gen 4's have a wider in diameter spring, the area cut out on a gen 4 barrel is larger.

That being said, it's irrelevant because these 106mm Glock 19 barrels should for all intents and purposes, be of the 4th generation variety. Maybe 5th but I don't know what if any differences exist other than the rifling.

I wouldnt care if we could legally own and use supressors in this country. At least I'll be ready when we're allowed :p

The 106mm barrel will be perfect when travelling to USA in my IWB holster

The 19x has the new Gen 5 barrel. It does not use the same barrel at the 19 Canadian.

are we sure on that?
either way Glock said they will be making a G19 106mm barrel available for purchase.

i do find it hard to imagine they would make 2 different G19 106mm barrels within a couple months for 2 of essentially the same gun.
would make more sense if they just used the same barrel for both, no?

hell, ill ask them, they seem to be pretty spot on with answering emails this week!

but you are right if you look at the write up on both, the 19X boasts the GMB barrel and the 19CDN does not.
but the 19X is also running the Gen4 mags......

I have both. The barrels are different.

They aren’t going to put an old barrel in a new gun that boasts the new barrel as one of the major improvements

i am rather surprised by this!
i just assumed that since they put them out back to back they would have used the same barrel to save money.
i wonder which one they are going to make available for sale?
id assume the one that came on the G19CDN version one.

You're surprised they put a Gen 5 barrel in a Gen 5 gun? That's puzzling. Lol

is it a Gen5 gun?

cause its not listed as a Gen5 on Glock's website and like you said it takes Gen4 mags.....

in fact its not listed as a Gen4 either on the website.

Why are you hung up on the mag? The only thing different about the Gen 5 mag is the lip on the front of the baseplate and the follower.

The slide, barrel, slide lock, trigger, frame are all the same as a Gen 5.

What are you talking abut ? The only difference in G19 barrel 5 gen. from 4 gen and older is that gen5 is a "Glock marksman barrel" .
You can put gen4 barrel in to gen5 or 19X no problem and now in gen 5 you can put G17 barrel and use it in G19 or G19X ( I have G17gen5 and G19X )
Barrel design changes were only done to G17 . From gen5 we can use G17 barrels in G19s

Ummmmmm, I said that they don't use the same barrel, and you described the difference between the two in the first line of your post. Not sure where you got lost there? No one said that one didn't fit in the other.

One could be forgiven for interpreting your words as being more restrictive than you perhaps intended.
