Hmmm, this rifle seems to be more common than I thought. Mine was manufactured Germany and I was told that year of manufacture was 1938. It is still in original packaging with original oil on it

The Diana Model 16 was made from 1922 - 1940 and again from 1950 - 1985. According to the Blue Book of Airguns, Tenth Edition, the earlier version of the Model 16 had a smoothbore octagon barrel. Nevertheless, to be a "wartime" Diana, it would have to be either a 1939 or 1940 manufactured air rifle. (The image attached appears to show Nazi Brownshirts, members of the SA (Sturmabteilung) or Nazi Party paramilitary, not German soldiers, with an air rifle. The SA was greatly diminished after 1934.)
