Good material for preventing ejection marks?

In the past I've seen guys use one side of Velcro hook and loop to protect receivers from ejection marks, on Swiss Arms rifles -- now I see some modern rifles have complaints about receiver dings, i.e. the M10X and WK-180 etc

What glue on material would you recommend to protect the metal? How good would plain black electrical tape work?
 
Best solutions to this issue:
1. Don’t buy it, let someone else enjoy it.
2. Don’t shoot it, let it hide in the dark corner of the safe.
3. Cover it in glue, Velcro, and tape. Which looks worse then marks showing use.

It serves no real function other than keeping the rifle looking brand new, so is that what you are going after?

Ejection dings will never affect the function of the rifle during its life.
 
Something thicker than electrical tape. I've used pistol grip tape material which is fairly thick and stays in place to great effect.
 
I put gaff tape on my rifles to prevent brass marks. My reason for this is I have a large collection of mostly milsurps and don’t fire them all that much and keeping the finish as good as I can helps protect the value. Cheers
 
Other than velcro...gorilla tape may work. You need to thoroughly clean the surface from oil or grease.
 
On the Military Arms Channel at full.30.com they have used a product called helicopter tape
for that purpose.
Also seen it used on racing bicycles to protect the finish from the chain.

I think the problem are people on the EE being anal retentive about little marks when purchasing a USED rifle.

Maybe we should stop being idiots and start to understand that buying a used firearm means it has been fired!

Heck, on that note people buying a new firearm need to realize that they are test fired at the factory and are rarely cleaned afterwards.

Yea you are right about that. People want it in BNIB condition for 30% of retail. The EE is ridiculous right now.
 
Most cases a little oil and 1000 steel wool and light rubbing and it come up like new.
