ATRS Modern Sporter - Nov 30th : New video, Post 482

I just cancelled my SLR pre-order. Is it still possible to get in on the initial run for the Sporter? I sent an email to the ATRS general email address on Friday but figured I'd ask here too just in case ;)

It is a long weekend and they close at 1700 hours. I would be shocked if someone does not respond to you first thing Tuesday morning. These guys truly take customer service to a whole new level.

You don't buy high end brand name billet sets for 300$
You don't even buy high end forged sets for 300$
High end billet ar sets are in the 700$++ range, often exceeding the cost of this set.
And obviously it isn't compatible with standard AR sets, so why even make the comparison??
This reciever set will be a great platform for a NR, accurate rifle if the right parts are chosen

Will it compatiable with triggertech type (one piece trigger in their own housing.. that type) ?
And what’s the weight of the lower receiver?

...Am I looking for parts too early?

We captured an interesting view of the wire EDM process that we use to cut our magazine wells with pinpoint precision. Hope you enjoy, it's a rather awkward place to get a camera.

holy crap that is cool. Didn't know this kind of tech was being used to build these lowers. Easily worth the price compared to standard milling.

We have always used wire EDM to cut our magwells even on our first run of ARs back in 2008. The capability and accuracy of these machines is truly mind blowing.
EDM machines are NOT cheap but sure produce a far nicer end result than milling and broaching does.

A vid of one being fired would be cool

This. A range vid of a mag or two would be sweet!

Serial number 000104

This comment made me think of something, can we swap serial numbers with other people who have ordered? Asking if ATRS would do this since it’s more work for them. I hadn’t realized the invoice had the serial number on it until a couple days ago.

I was hoping for custom serial numbers. While I got my Modern Hunter second hand, it would be neat to have a matched serial number.

You're welcome to ask on the forums I suppose, but we won't give out customer information. The serial number is also the order of production... so you may be hard pressed to sweet talk someone out of a lower number.

Would you guys be willing to contact others to initiate a swap if someone is after a specific number? Another question is what number are you guys up to?

We can be making guns or spending time trying to negotiate serial number swaps. We charge the same amount per hour regardless, so if you really have to have a particular number yes but at a cost.
It would be more cost effective to put up an ad requesting a certain serial number and deal with it without having to have us spend a bunch of time on this.

Since we first started the Modern series of rifles we have heard time after time it has to be cheaper, so we have done everything we can to produce high quality but cost effective. TIME costs money, so we removed many of the nice features we built into our rifles, we quit with the custom serial numbers and fire control markings which are extremely time consuming, all to reduce costs, yet now it seems many want us to do custom serial numbers, fire control markings and so on. You just can't have it both ways unfortunately.
