the only reason the lee enfield is listed as an exemption is that when the gun grabbers were writing the regulation it was pointed out that the magazine limits were unworkable the way they wrote them, rather then admit they were wrong they just added in exemptions for specific items. long term they would solve all these little problems when they confiscated everything.
So enfield mags that were manufactured would work in the semi-auto conversions, which there were a few but exist in museums now.
It is my opinion that the 20 round enfield trench mag was never manufactured for the use in the semi-auto conversions, as the trench mags were discontinued before the semi-auto conversions were developed.
but then that didn't stop the lab from retroactively deciding that the 25 round 10/22 mags were prohibited devices.
