ATRS Modern Sporter - Nov 30th : New video, Post 482

Alright, quick update! It's been two days of mind-numbing paperwork and data entry, so sadly no picture update right now. I'll post one on facebook later tonight of the first few receivers to finish the coarse sand blasting.

BUT! I've been getting a LOT of guys asking how many are left, if I wait until such 'n such a date, can I still get in on the first pre-order. Well I've got 15 serial numbers left that I can sell.

If you're interested, email info@albertatacticalrifle.com with your name, phone number, address, picture of your PAL, and an EMT for $500 + your local tax (GST or HST, we don't need PST).

See you all back on Monday!

Nice! Just ordered mine today and glad I did with only 15 left. Thanks for the super smooth order process.. Already have my SN! I was also one to jump ship from "the other one". Is it bad that part of my want to switch was the mag well (apart from other things obviously)?

We can be making guns or spending time trying to negotiate serial number swaps. We charge the same amount per hour regardless, so if you really have to have a particular number yes but at a cost.
It would be more cost effective to put up an ad requesting a certain serial number and deal with it without having to have us spend a bunch of time on this.

Since we first started the Modern series of rifles we have heard time after time it has to be cheaper, so we have done everything we can to produce high quality but cost effective. TIME costs money, so we removed many of the nice features we built into our rifles, we quit with the custom serial numbers and fire control markings which are extremely time consuming, all to reduce costs, yet now it seems many want us to do custom serial numbers, fire control markings and so on. You just can't have it both ways unfortunately.

Thanks for the response. The number I was after was requested specifically, Shaun had looked for me. Wasn’t looking for anything custom, sorry for the confusion.

Are you waiting until all of the first run are sand blasted , before anodizing, before you start shipping?
Or are you going to send a batch for anodizing, that’s already blasted?
Newfenese and whiskey .. lol

No we aren't waiting for the entire batch. We would rather send 30 or so up at a time for anodizing. It keeps production moving, rather than waiting, and also limits risk.

You need to mass produce these.

We're doing what we can to increase production, but we will not sacrifice quality.

You guys should pump out 30 uppers, send them out with the first batch.

That’ll be really excellent advertising, drive your sales through the Fucing roof :)

To change the fixtures, programs and tooling take the best part of a day, not including the running of a test part to confirm it is dimension-ally correct. This would add to the cost as well as needlessly delay production, so short of purchasing another several hundred thousand dollars worth of machines, we will carry on as we are unless you are feeling benevolent.:)

Gotta get the lowers to the people first asap stick it to the man.

This is our thinking. Things are running VERY well currently and to mess with success is always questionable. On top of that we have made a commitment to everyone so far to get lowers done ASAP to beat C71. I don't think the guys who number 31 and on would appreciate our changing to accommodate a few that are impatient.

I’m feeling kind enough to pay some extra:)
Maybe the other 29 would to.

A couple days pay for someone to change the machine out and back.

$100 or so so per Upper should cover it.

But hey, I’m just getting excited...haha

It would be more than just the 2 days that things get delayed. To run 30 uppers will take 7 to 10 days.

What is the benefit to beating c71 if there is no FRT or did I miss something with a status 'ruling'

Well, the FRT isn’t law. So as long as this lower is a descendant of the NR Modern Varminter you are, in theory, good to go. If this rifle is restricted (very low chance), we would be responsible for registering or selling to an RPAL holder (or turning it in, not a real option to me). The point of getting the lowers out is then they aren’t on “the list” that C71 is creating.
