Looking to purchase a muzzle break for my savage 10ba stealth in .308 just wondering what you guys have tried and what worked for you ?

got a competition steel muzzle break on rem 700 sps varmint 26 in barrel , got this on ebay Canada for 40$ shoot good and the recoil like a 223

I'm assuming that you want a brake for watching trace, spotting misses and keeping on target in unstable positions? The current "go-to's" are the Insite Arms Heathen, PVA Jetblast and APA Little Bastard. Other good ones to look at: MDT's new hex brake, Khantrol Solutions, VG6 brakes and the Mad Scientist. I would stay away from the ebay/amazon brakes as they are generally nowhere near as effective/efficient, usually made of chinesium and will not give you the same results as the others mentioned above.

First piece of advice - it's a brake.

Second piece of advice - don't use them on a .308

My .308 is much softer with a brake.
What's the reasoning behind this?

OP : I have tried 3 brakes on my savage .308
ATRS, Insite arms heathens, and badger ordnance FTE

Now with me new build I got heathens brake once again, by far my favourite and I have tried other brakes on other rifles too.
I wouldn't call it the most recoil reducing, but definitely is the most quiet, when you are the shooter behind it that is, not so much for others.

Been lucky to find an offshore supply that is making superb brakes... in fact, these brakes are likely repackaged by other US brands. Steel, very nicely machined and nitrided finished. I have used several on my rifles and they worked really well.... and show no sign of wear.

And they are all under $100.

When watching PRS videos, I see some of these at the end of competitor rifles so others have discovered how well they work.

They is both good and bad coming in from Asia...just have to be selective

You’re weird correcting spelling on a gun forums, isn’t there a grammar forum to spend time on instead?
Yeah why not a brake on 308? It significantly reduces recoil so why not?
