This is getting to be a hair pulling tough decision. I'm trying to decide between the Sig 1911 Max in 9mm or the Dan Wesson PM9 also in 9mm for IPSC classic. Any hands on experience with either ? And does anyone know a dealer who has a Max in 9mm in Canada. I can't find any with the main advertisers here.

I have never warmed up to the Sig 1911s for several reasons, but to be fair, the Max model you are looking at is definitely a more purpose built competition model. I have not read many reviews.

My vote would be for the DW only because that is what I know and a much prefer the classic style. From what I have seen, the build quality of DW rivals more expensive guns. Can't say the same for the Sigs I've seen, but then again I have not handled a Max model.

I almost wish I didn't know about the sig at FOC because that was my first choice but was talking myself into the DW. Dangit .

Decision made. I ordered the Dan Wesson PM 9. There were several reasons in its favour on "paper" so I hope they are re enforced when the gun arrives. I'll do a review for those unfamiliar with the DW's.

Great choice. I really like the features on the Pointman. I saw one in 38 super that was hard to pass up. Still humming and hawing.

Yep. The DW is a true 1911 and 70 series as well. The sig is a representation of a 1911. And 80 series. Awfully tall sights, and needs a new holster. I'm sure it works great and has top shelf components and looks killer but I just like the things that the DW has more. Both probably shoot nice little groups but the differences are what I based my choice on. Cant wait to do a nice review on it. Most stupid reviews consist of some guy shooting a big steel plate as fast as he can and gushing about the great trigger without even saying how much it weighs. Kind of bush league. I hope to do better. We'll see. First time for everything.
