This is the nice thing about jigs, blanks, and knowledge of how to run machine tools... :) Admittedly, my political ecosystem down here is less hostile to those than yours for the moment, but it doesn't take much to get the genie out of the bottle--no crap, I once hogged out an AR lower using only a freakin' CORDLESS DRILL. Took a week's worth of lunch hours, but...

Is it gonna be a problem if I post links to the two-part article I wrote about the experience and lessons learned from it?
 
I am honestly not surprised by this letter/consideration from the Libs. I have talked to fellow gun enthusiasts and friends about the possibility and a few of them agreed.

We ALL know this is a ploy for a LIB win next election or a or the preferred... LIB loss in the next election via a hopeful backfire (not pun intended). It really could go either way with this announcement. We ALL know this is criminal issue along with mental health. It just blows me away with all the dogooder talk that these LIB's spew from their mouths about help for these people and those people and for ALL people, yet they turn out to be empty promises (what government doesn't do that though) and focus on the easier solution.

I don't know though.... I'm not saying I'm not furious about this possibility, however I am optimistic.

What we really need is for the 2,000,000 firearm owners young and old to turn out to those polls next Oct and get these guys out. The average shooter... this should steam you really bad... but when the Govt starts for the hunters on and off this forum (semi/pump action and bolt/lever action) I truly won't be surprised either.


The ball is in our court to write the MP'''s, voice support and get out and vote!!!.

First the handguns and restricted's! That'll steam more than a few of us!

Next is the semi auto/pump and bolt/levers. For those who don't own a restricted.... this IS your issue too. Rights and freedoms.
 
I wonder if there is any merit in approaching Mr. Solomon Friedman and launching a class action against the government. I’m obviously not well versed in the law subject but it is surprising that it is ok for them to discriminate against the hard working law abiding legal gun owners and cause such a mental anguish and uncertainty. If they approached any other (minority) group in Canada and tried to impose sanctions that would cause the same amount of anguish, frustration and anxiety, I’m pretty sure the repercussions would be such that they would be pressed to drop it immediately. Simply telling you that you have to volunteerly relinquish the firearms you legally purchased using your after tax hard earned money and following every single rule imposed on you by the government should not be acceptable. Just a thought.

Get as many people into shooting sports. If 2 million turns into 4 million maybe politicians will see it as votes.

the most frustrating part about this for me is that I grew up in Toronto and in the early 90s, as a 12-13 year old, i knew kids my age who had guns. i had friends who were gang members who could get me guns. all thanks to organized crime and illegal gun smuggling. obviously i chose a different path. these clowns know for a fact banning handguns in Canada will do nothing to stop this. heck, we had almost a thousand hells angels gather in Quebec just a few weeks ago with impunity. no one's talking about shutting those guys down.

i do plan on reaching out to my MP. anyone know how i can get real data from reputable sources like the RCMP, OPP etc. on gun crime? data going back to the 90s etc. i'd like to add real sources when i talk to my MP/ MPP and try not to go into the infowars deep end.
 
Sent my MP (Peter Julian), Minister Blair, Minister Goodale, and the Prime Minister a letter. Got memberships with CSSA, CCFR, and NFA. Going to contact with my club and see if they are planning anything. This is a problem. We all need to get involved to stop this. We need to tell people who don’t follow the news and forums. Word of mouth is key.
 
The ####ing cops don't want to confront real criminals they like making a noise about what they have done, even though it's very little. Much easier to pick on law abiding gun owners who they know will do everything they can not to break the law and thus lose their guns.
