Liberal Handgun Ban?

OK, you shoot on public land. So, you aren't a pistol shooter, and a handgun ban wouldn't make any difference to your shooting activity.

"Assault weapon ban" would, as it would likely target any non-restricted semi-auto.

Of the 3 ranges ive belonged to in the past 25 years, close to where i live, NONE have a policy to let you bring a non member in to shoot, to see if they like it or not. I have a bunch of non shooters that would like to try it at least. One range has a guest policy but absolutely no shooting.. All claim because of liability. You'd have to purchase a membership to have access, plus most directors, are fudds, don't like any kind of rapid fire or standing to do shooting...they dont know why anyone would shoot more than 5 rounds, period. I pretty much gave up going after last confrontation with president of gun club/owner of land. Didn't like time of day i started shooting (7am) out in the country despite range rules saying (daylight to sunset) "neighbours complaining of noise) "why you shooting fast"? yada yada. I know i'm preaching to the choir here but a lot in the shooting community are our own worst enemy.

We need a Canadian version of Alex Jones.....will you be our guy Mr. Wolverine?

No we dont. We definitely don't. We need a Colion Noir and to trade a Nathalie Provost for a Suzzanna Hupp.

We need to fire the Commissioner of RCMP and replace her with a David Clarke, and replace the Toronto Chief of Police with James Craig, the current Detroit police Chief.

What does Craig think about terrorist attacks in his fair city? https://m.metrotimes.com/news-hits/archives/2015/12/02/detroit-police-chief-terrorists-dont-####-with-detroiters-because-we-all-carry-guns
Can you imagine the anyone calling for a handgun ban with that guy as the chief?

I suspect not one gun owner in 1,000 knows who those four people are.

Well said John. I think this is the best thing we can do right now. More people don’t own guns than people who do and I think most people don’t understand the positive things about legal sport / recreational shooting. People that aren’t “in the know” or are uneducated on the topic will almost certainly jump on the handgun ban / “assault weapon” ban bandwagon because they hear it will make the public safer because they don’t know or don’t care as it has no personal effect on them. There seems to be a lot of negative media about firearms lately and that has an effect on public opinion. We are some of the most law abiding citizens in this country but that’s not what the average person thinks of when gun control is brought up.

I see only two possible ways out of this. When push comes to shove, the only true way we win the war (and not just the battle of the day) is either: 1) a Supreme Court Challenge claiming the firearms laws as they are infringe on our right to life, liberty, security, etc., and/or 2) civil disobedience.

Is 1) possible? I don't know. I'm not a lawyer, but could we crowd source fund such a thing?

As for 2), if they ban guns, what would they do if we ALL refused to turn them over? What if we hid them and refused to provide them? What if we then carefully planned days when we would go in large groups and shoot them all together at a range? Could they arrest all of us?

Fixed that for you...

we have a raging feminist communist globalist beta male in power and you attack the one man we have- at the moment who can possibly take her spot!? I hate Justin so much that Andrew Sheer automatically becomes my hero just because He is Justin's number one challanger and by the way He shoots guns and so do his kids, he was a member at my range before he won the leadership and moved to Ottawa.

Andrew Sheer is the Mp here in Regina His children attended Regina Christian School and I met him many times, so me no make di up

let us give him Justin's seat in 2019

Well said Mr Wolverine!

We live in a very large country with very diverse idealogy; I’m sometimes amazed how pro gun some people say their neighbors are and they might be at that. However, we got trouble in the cities where most voters live and the average person has taken the hook, line and sinker that the U.S. has nothing, but problems because of gun ownership.

I try and educate people and get them to the range and it’s tough because some of us have to travel far to a range. We really need to work on the hearts and minds of the average person. Even the hunter crowd is no longer safe, people even protest against eating meat. Some people I know, that are not gun owners, can think back to fond times when they were kids and had a neighbor take them out to shoot their .22lr. Those are the people that can help us. The biggest mistake after c-68 was how insular we became .... I remember being taught to not let anyone know we had firearms or hunted. In our silence, we could be attacked easily without having to deal with rebuttals and logic.

And we can still do the other stuff too!

I appeciate any effort to help us keep our sport. I know that handguns are big in the states for personal defence, but for me it is purely for the love of the sport. I enjoy target shooting! It is my favorite thing to do on my days off work! Practicing and improving all the time. It's satisfying.
Thank you wolverine supplies

The problem is that nobody wants to kick in any money. Over 2 million gun owners and the CSSA has fifty thousand members. What a joke. I've always said, it's amazing we have the freedoms we still do. There's what, three or four hundred thousand RPAL holders in Canada. If everyone chipped in just 100 bucks that's 40 million dollars. That could go a long way for the CSSA/NFA especially for focusing on ridings where Liberals are vulnerable. And going by all the Ed Browns and Desert Eagles on the EE, a lot of us can afford more than $100. Gun owners are also their own worst enemy. We're not a united front. Almost all gun owners who don't own handguns wont lift a finger for guys who do. I've even had arguments at my club with guys who support the prohibiting of 12.6s back in the day. Having open houses won't do anything. Pro-Liberal media polls say 60% of Canadians support banning handguns. So if you take away Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, most people in the rest of the country are generally ambivalent on guns. It isn't the average Canadian who's demanding more gun control. It's practically a dozen people. And no matter how good of an impression we make, gun control will never be a ballot box issue for most Canadians. And it doesn't need to be. We just need to get active and get serious (and less stingy) before it's too late.

Could not agree more!! My club is decent but it could do more with promotion as we all could. Good job Wolverine you have my support.

Well said Mr Wolverine

I wish the Conservatives would actually modernize their platform and win people that are on the fence over. I know so many that don't want to vote Liberal but do because of the regressive policy of the social Conservative element of the party when it comes to the environment, abortion, etc.

What about a challenge of the actual law itself? Could it be done? Has it been tried?

Challenging a law is a lengthy and expensive process with small chance of success. By comparison stopping a law before it comes into effect is easy. It is the differance between been proactive or reactivate. Sadly the Canadian way is to be proactive not reactive. To little, to late.

Remember the long gun registry? Most hunters said "It will never happen".

The Brits and Aussies never expected to loose their guns!

How right you are, money is power. I suggested years ago that every dealer donate one quarter of one percent of their gross to a "war chest" to finance the scrap against unjust gun control. I was just about hung! Instead we sell raffle tickets for a Ruger 10/22 to raise money to challenge court cases!
United we stand, divided we fall.
