If anyone would bother to look at UN agenda 21 or just google "UN agenda 21 gun control" it's all spelled out. You can't stop it unless everyone rises up and it won't happen because everyone is so passionate about their guns but hey can't protest that day because work, dentist appointment, mortgage yada yada yada. Government knows we are all talk and besides a few useless e-mails or letters fvck all will happen.

True.
They make their excuses sound so believable.
Just a smokescreen for apathy and cowardice.

It's coming. Prepared a long time ago. No doubt about it. Scheer will never reverse it, once it's going to take place. His popularity could suffer with the liberal crowd.

His points are valid and historically correct. Right wing ? Yes we are conservative What do you suggest- left wing?

Hitler,Stalin, mao, Hugo Chavez pol pot, Fidel Castro on and on and on, Democide death by government number one killer in the last 100 years

Show me in history where governments took guns and it all worked out ? sound like you are in denial and think humanity is more holy then it really is and history must not be true to you.
Everyone of those Leaders where left wing nut job socialist that made there people follow the party line and all funded by western Banking Europe and Jew York "Money Changers" stock exchange media, radio news print and teachers, proffessor, Churchs to send them to get slaughtered to make a buck and to thin out the herd. This game has been going on before firearms Study a little about history and warfare. Ultimately it the Worship of Mammon, the ancient religion of child sacrifice that is still lingering in our societies.

UN launches new International Small Arms Control Standards

29 August 2012 — On August 29, the International Small Arms Control Standards (ISACS) were launched in a side event of the Second Review Conference on the United Nations Programme of Action on the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons. The new standards will help to ensure that the UN provides support to Member States on putting in place effective controls over the full life-cycle of small arms and light weapons — from manufacture, marking and recordkeeping to storage, transport and international transfer to the tracing, collection and destruction of illicit weapons.

Let’s say you’re a peacekeeper, or a humanitarian worker, or contributing to reintegration of former combatants, or developing a small arms national action plan with a government. At some point in your work, you would need some guidance on how best to deal with small arms control issues. You may need information on such practical assistance as how to conduct a survey on the small arms situation, how to advise on the best ways to destroy a surplus stock of weapons, or how to design and implement community safety programming.

The illicit trade in small arms and light weapons fuels armed violence in conflict, post-conflict and other fragile settings. About 526,000 people die from armed violence every year, at an annual opportunity cost to the global economy of approximately $400 billion. Armed violence destroys lives and livelihoods, breeds insecurity, fear and terror, dissolves social cohesion and hinders achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.

The lives of UN staff are also being endangered by the easy availability of weapons. As Hideki Matsuno, who is responsible for the ISACS in UNODA , notes: “Last year, the Organization recorded 26 armed attacks on UN premises, including five rocket and mortar attacks, 13 attacks using improvised explosive devices, 36 ambushes of UN convoys and 31 cases of hijacking of UN vehicles.”

The 23 UN entities that make up the UN Coordinating Action on Small Arms (CASA) mechanism have contributed expertise, time and money over the last three-and-a-half years. They also opened the process of developing the standards to experts from governments, international and regional organizations, civil society and the private sector.

UN Member States have already negotiated three global agreements aimed at eradicating the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons. The UN Programme of Action, the International Tracing Instrument and the Firearms Protocol create global norms that could go a long way towards eradicating the black market trade in guns.

Following their launch, the standards will be used by CASA partners to support programmes and projects designed to assist Member States in controlling arms and reducing armed violence. The work of drafting the standards may be coming to an end, but the task of applying them is only just beginning.

Of course there idea of reducing armed violence is to fvck over the legal gun owner!!!

I take people to the range whenever I can to shoot a few handguns and rifles to get their interest. For the past 5 years I have gifted PAL courses to family and friends at Xmas time to grow our numbers. After the course is finished, with PAL in hand, they would also get an SKS and a 1/2 crate of ammo as part of the gift. If each of us would just get a few people into shooting we'd have 5 million PAL holders in no time. Thank you Wolverine for the post.

My opinion is that the Liberals are floating a trial balloon for handgun/AR ban, to test the waters of public sentiment outside the touchy feely areas of Toronto and Montreal. On the gun owners' side, the RCMP Commissioner stated that she doesn't think that a ban is the answer. On the political side, Liberal voters live outside of cities and I would guess that a number are gun owners as well, which will make their support to the ruling government shaky.

The big thing we have going for us is the Liberals' absolutely lousy performance as a ruling government. Serving military and veterans have been kicked to the curb by the Liberals, which reduces their "likeability" by that demographic and a switch to Conservatives at the polls. With the Kinder Morgan issue giving the Liberals a kick in the gut today, they are not making anyone happy in Alberta. NAFTA? Another debacle that will go against them. My point is, the Liberals can't afford to crank everyone against them, and I think this trial balloon will go in our favour as a result.

On the "so what then" question? I do think that Bill C-71 will pass and that there will not be a total handgun ban if any, but semi-auto owners will be feeling uncomfortable with extremely restrictive legislation as semi-autos are the gun of choice for criminals. Sorry to say that I think the AR crowd will be under the same uncomfortable scrutiny. The honest gun owner will feel a lot of bureaucratic pain to transport to the range. Do I think that our firearms will die with us (ie no passage via will to family) when we croak? Yes I do. Do I think that home inspections by police will become mandatory for inspection of lockup facilities? Yes I do - given the rise in robberies for the purpose of stealing firearms (CBC article August 30, 2018). As a side note, I think that gun cabinets a la Stack-on have a limited life in Canada - the RCMP will likely have to mandate the minimum standard for firearms lockup by private citizens - ie gun safes which means $$$ to buy.

They won't take them away from honest gun owners this time around....but if they get elected again in 2109....watch out.

Selling handguns and all other kind of firearms is mostly giving profit to the dealers. So, Why don't they stand up "for real" while their lively hood is questioned? Instead they try to dump off overstock. But it's all for the sake of Canadian gun owners like - pieces of useless metal and SKSs of questionable quality.

Ah........ And I don't want to go there.

First they came for the handguns and I didn't speak up because I didn't own a handgun.
Then they came for the black rifles and I didn't speak up because I didn't own a black rifle.
Then they came for all remaining firearms and I didn't speak up because they told me it was for safety and security of all.
Finally they came for all my rights, because nobody was left to defend them.

Why not start a bill board campaign in all provinces, and really get some attention and people thinking. Gun clubs, gun stores and firearms enthusiasts a cross the board come together to purchase bill boards in their areas.
