That is a beauty CK. The specs are similar to mine (see pic below - same barrel, trigger and receiver). I struggled for a long time to complete the 50 yard challenge using medium price ammo (SK Rifle Match and similar), when I finally caved and got some Eley Tenex I completed the challenge on the first try :)

GOOD TO KNOW!

I will be buying some soon, all though... I may not need too... I am VERY close with SK match.

A little update... I tried it today.

Didnt bring much sk match as I honestly thought it would only take 2-3 tries.... SO I ran out of ammo... Did not complete the 50 yard challenge but was damn close...

I took it apart and did a full clean.

ONE BIG THING! I realized the "band" is already on the bull barrel side and that their is a ledge that was preventing the barrel from being fully free floated...

SO naturally I red neck jobbed it and filed the band off... See pictures...

The rifle barrel is now free floated properly (ps this stock is very hard to get on and off)

So Im going to give it one more shot with SK match and then I will likely order some top tier ammo to start trying.

Also it shoots alright with CCI, well enough to hunt with !

Picture dump!

Mine came very close to completing the challenge with SK RM ammo. I probably have 20-25 targets with 3 or 4 groups under .5" and the rest just slightly over. If I had been more patient it may have done it. I recently tried CCI Std Vel, the rifle really likes it, results are very similar to SK RM.

Curious, I filed that ridge off mine and it made the barrelled action wiggle in the stock. Seems that ridge was pushing up on my barrel and locking the action in place, with it filed off everything kind of see-sawed. I went back to my old stock and didn’t bother with it again. My barrelled action is a Magnum Research MLR1722 by the way,

Did you experience this at all?

Patrick

My stock is VERY tight. Like hard to get on and off...

You made me curious though.. I went and checked... Yup... Mine does that...

What a POS ! lol

Honestly I dont think it will affect shooting... One way to find out... Guess next week when I get a chance to hit the range I will find out. I really have to shake it or push the barrel to get it to move though.

I may have to get a boyds or something diffrent now. My OCD is tripping.

ANNNNNNNND Now im on MDT's site...

Found somehing better.

My bois at Prophet are an option... https://store.prophetriver.com/stocks/ruger/

Where can I get the Victor company Titan?

My bois at Prophet got me coverd. https://store.prophetriver.com/stocks/ruger/

I’m wondering if it can be reinforced or have some sort of spacer put in the other end to lock it down/in. Anyhow, was very disappointed that it wouldn’t free float and the gun shot markedly worse with the added pressure point,

Well it explained why the Torque spec of the action screw played such a big roll. It was adding pressure on the barrel with more torque...

NOT GOOD

...Beautiful rifle! Funny i just read this as i have just received my dar-22 receiver. It looks very good and very sturdy! I will try to build my rifle just like you!

Haha, enjoy! Avoid the Magpul stock !

Similar built 10/22 here, intent to hunt mostly and sometimes bench shooting. Dlask receiver+bolt+buffer+2x trigger pin+takedown bolt, Kidd single stage trigger+Charging handle(Standard spring), Magpul X22 stock, TacSol X ring 16.5 threaded barrel w/muzzle brake, Bushnell Elite 3-9x40 scope. Don't have one single Ruger factory parts in it. Haven't been to the range yet, will report later.

How much did that cost?

My X22 stock is very hard to get in and out too, clean its receiver is a disaster to me.

Pretty decent upgrade from the magpul? I’m thinking about getting one over winter, what are your initial thoughts? Right now I have a houge with a cheek riser I installed and I do like it. I wanna do some more groupings with it before I purchase the VC stock.

Yes just because the fact of now I have a free floated barrel.

There are small but minor improvements also. I prefer this grip and angle. It is much thicker for us big guys. Also there is a nice metal triangle of dots to use as a placement marker for thumb so your hand is the same every time.

This stock lines my hand up better along the trigger then the magpul did. Also it comes with MANY options for slings and bipods as the magpul does not.

A nice hook in the rear of the stock also. Im sure I will appreciate when im out shooting.
