WK180 Trouble...Advice needed!

Someone already mentioned you can adjust the mag release. YouTube up a mag release tutorial and you'll be an expert. Well done on figuring out the firing pin problem.

Ok...I had a buddy over to help me take the pin out of the bolt. (I have limited hand function due to paralysis) I must say that pin holding the firing pin in will definitely never fall out on it's own...wow it's in there! Anyway, I got her apart and the interior of the bolt was right full of tiny primer pieces....that can't be normal? Cleaned it out and put it back together and the firing pin now protrudes again when pressed. So hopefully I have that sorted out....I'll let you know. Do you think it's a fault of the ammunition? The mag issue I'm at a loss but will try again now that I may have solved the no fire problem. Here are pics of the disassembled bolt and pieces of primer that made it back into the bolt with the pin....

I was talking about the extractor pin on the bolt itself , not the firing pin Cotter pin. Check that the extractor pin is tight.

Ok thanks for all the help so far. Much appreciated! I wont be able to get the bolt apart to check extractor until I have some help again. I'll try tomorrow...

To WbyNut and Paul_T:

You need a new bolt head and firing pin. Your firing pin hole in the bolt face is waaay too big. Contact Kodiac for the parts with pictures of the bolt face. And don't fire your rifle until you get the new parts as that problem can be unsafe. They must have had a run of defective bolt heads.

Are you commenting on my bolt/pin as well? It looks like a poor camera shot/lighting to me on mine. Here is a little better pic. Seems to fill the hole OK. I had pieces of primer come off and nary a bit inside the bolt.

Thanks for the positive comment.....if it turns out they all have issues then it will start to get tiring, but at the moment I'm putting it down to getting them out the door perhaps too quickly and a few will have issues because of it.
Kodiak has been awesome to deal with, answering emails well after hours, providing pre-paid shipping label etc.

I doubt NEA/BCL owners would say the same. The vendor of the 102 is the one seemingly having to hold that cluster-f&ck together.

Very refreshin gun post and abulous to hear everything is going smoothy with the communication and especially that they provide a pre paid shipping label as well!

Hope you get your rifle back soon and everything works flawless

I never got into anything NEA/BCL, if I did I'd probably have a brain aneurysm by now

I checked a few brass along the way and never really noticed anything...let me go grab some and get back to ya.

First off there should not be pieces of primer blown into the bolt body. This would "usually" indicate an overpressure issue.

Have you took a good look at the fired brass yet? I'm almost certain you could be experiencing the same issue as found here:

https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1762681-Had-a-issue-today-with-my-WK

Chamber a few rounds of the ammo you were using and then use the charging handle to eject them without firing them and inspect the bullet for marks indicating that it had been jammed into the bore.

There are indications that the throat is possibly cut short which leads to over pressure issues which in turn leads to function issues.

This is halirous but also sad. This is why I never pre order a new gun your stuck with long wait times and then deal with problems. For those saying ‘oh it’s not a super exspensive rifle so it’s ok!’ Shake your head people that like saying a Honda Civic shouldn’t be expected to work since it’s not a BMW.

It could be. The firing pin hole should be just big enough that the firing pin can fit through. If there is any more space it could be defective. Obviously seeing it in person is a better determination than just seeing a photo.

Another Canadian made fiasco.

Most certainly not. Again, a couple of rifles have had minor issues which are going to be fixed under warranty. Why are there so many drama queens on this forum? As soon as one rifle has an issue everyone jumps on the "they are all crap " bandwagon and I am pretty tired of it.

Not in the least. Mark my words, more threads like this are coming.

No sheit Sherlock. There will always be defective firearms made throughout the life span of a rifle while its being made. Perfection is impossible to obtain even though that is the goal. According to your standards I guess AR15's are fiascos to as I still see lots of people posting for help about them. I mean jesus christ they only had 50 years to perfect the desgn. What a fiasco.

Considering there are a couple of hundred of these newly lauched rifles out there now and the fact there has been only a few issue threads posted, I would say the launch of this rifle was a stellar success. Kudos to Kodiak and Wolverine from me.

looks like NEA all over again, sucks for the guys with issues, but at least it's a Canadian company taking care of you, just wish a Canada made firearm would just run correct right off the bat,but like anything.development will make them more reliable,
