Brownells Retro AR10 Rifle

I believe they plan to release furniture sets after the rifle release . read that somewhere but I also know there are several outfits working on retro ar10 stuff in the states. google shows piles of stuff down there.

Relax guys, pretty sure youngestpipercub is talking out of his butt. There has been no decision labelling this gun as restricted, and there probably won't be.

I am in fact talking out of my but because it has not been classified. However, there are a few AR-10's in Canada that ARE in fact, non-restricted firearms. They were factory manufactured semi-automatic rifles, manufactured in the 1960s and later imported into Canada. They are quite rare. I believe there are less than 10 of these rifles in the country. Every other AR-10/15 series rifle is deemed to be a "variant" of the AR-15 by the RCMP/CFC/CFR. The only exceptions are the Stag 10s, ATRS and SLRs. These are different enough to not allow a standard upper to fit on. There have been lots of AR10 lowers that have been submitted and all come back restricted (variant of AR15).

If a standard AR upper fits on this even with duct tape (they are copies of originals so it likely will) then they will deemed restricted. It makes no sense that the originals are NR but if a new one interchanges they are restricted. Nothing that fits has been called NR. Honestly I'm still shocked the Stag 10 came back NR. The slant cut and pins must have been enough that they could not get it to fit on anything they had and forced their hand.

These are all restricted because the uppers and lowers interchange.

It sucks and does not make sense but that's how it has gone for years. The lab declared a Turkish shotgun that used the same furniture as a "variant" of the AR-15 and the AR-88 as a variant of the AK. The also Declared the Blaze 47 a variant of an AK47. Then an AR10 with different takedown pins and different cut shape is NR. I will be the first to Eat Crow if it does come back NR but history does not lean favourably to NR. Not to mention it likely will take years to actually get a classification. You are making the fundamental mistake of applying logic to the firearms Act. If you continue to do so, your head will explode .

Beautiful Rifle Tho!

YoungestPiperCub is still incorrect. The proprietary Receiver contours used on the BR10 series of rifles will not interchange nor mate up with Ă ny modern AR10 Receivers, neither the Lower nor the Upper. This has been repeatedly afffirmed by Brownells. The only receivers which might interchange are the original AR10 components, however that remains to be seen. For that reason, the BRN10 with an 18.6" Barrel stands a very good chance of being classified as Non--Restricted in Canada once submitted by Wolverine Supplies and procesed by the Lab.

I was not aware that they will not mate. I thought that the upper still fit (read somewhere) if that is not the case then you are 100% correct.

This makes me so happy I would've assumed restricted as well, but now I'm thinking these will be NR, which is super cool. Id have to take a couple.....

Good to get a matched set, 1 to look at in the back of my safe, 2 to take out to play with as a reminder of what fun I once had.

I'm building a M16A1 semi-auto clone from Brownells parts right now.. Would love to be able to afford the AR10. Hoping to be under $400 US mark since I already have a original Colt barrel. Just need the correct stock parts and the correct lower. The upper is already built.
