First Handgun Sig Sauer or Glock

All good advice. As I said this will be my first so I'm going to obsess over it too much. But I doubt it'll be my last, the kid is almost out of school so money will free up. I have a healthy list of handguns on the "to buy" list.

I own a Glock 17 and Sig P320. Can't wrong with either one. You will most likely end up owning both sooner or later!

Nothing wrong with either of your choice. But there are other pistols you can check out. CZ 75 Shadow 1 and 2, clones of 1911s and 2011s and good used ones. Try whatever is available and then decide. Do not go impulse buying because of the review. Consider grip, sight picture, weight, recoil and your primary purpose (bullseye shooting or the more competitive IPSC/IDPA). Safe shooting!

Before I bought my first pistol I tried a bunch, I ended up picking something that wasn't any of the ones that I tried.

I tried a smith and wesson m&p, a glock, a 1911, a sig p226, a jericho "baby eagle" , a tokarev tt33 and an enfield revolver. ( these last two were my favorites out of all the ones that I tried.)

I bought a smith and wesson 686-4, pre-lock with wood grips and a polished stainless finish. My cousin and my uncle when they heard asked "Why the hell did you buy that?"[they are fans of the polymer striker fired guns], but when they went to the range with me, everyone at the range shot it and now my cousin has bought two boxes of 357 magnum ammunition and he's looking forward to the next range trip.

TL/DR OP, try every gun that you can use, even if you think that you wouldn't like it. You never know until you try.

I agree with everyone here. I obsessed over a glock 19 and finally bought one....to find it didn’t fit my hand well. It’s gone and I’ll probably never buy another firearm without holding it (and ideally shooting it) again.

That being said, buy a Sig. :)

I’m going to have to side with Dirt on this on - Glocks is mo’ better.

Also, handguns are like potato chips... Do you remember the flavour of chip that got you hooked? No? Neither do I. The point is, if you like handguns, you’ll never own just one. Sig/Glock/whatever. You’ll just end up with the other one at some point anyway, so don’t get too stressed about the selection.

The OP's first mistake is to narrow his choice to 2 plastic guns. It seems to me the major benefit of polymer is lighter weight to carry around everyday. Seeing as we can't do that I don't get the point of owning one.
For punching holes in paper or making steel go "ting!" the answer is CZ Shadow,Sig X-Five or a good 1911. ;)

Yo strait up da glizzy mo betta dis strap strait fire be mo accurate. Da sig cant role cuz tha glock be tha father

Indeed, the glizzy is strait fire. Glock also has a lower bore axis which many people find favourable (myself included). The modularity of the Sig is wasted on Canadians because we can’t CCW. Either one will work for you so put your hands on both, preferably while firing them and take your pick.

I have both the CZ Shadow 1 & 2. I However just picked up the Glock 19X and love the way it feels and shoots, it may be my new favorite.

My first and only pistol is a CZ75B. I wanted my first to be an all-steel, with a military-type background/credentials/history. Now, I'm open to others.

I will eventually get a rimfire (Ruger Mark 4 maybe?), a revolver (alfa pro or better a Smith), and a striker fired polymer pistol (Glock, or maybe a CZ P10c)....that is over a long period. I have other hobbies and the very same Finance minister....And I want an AR-15 custom AND a Ruger 10/22 Takedown....

Haha you're too sweet. Thinking you're just getting the one!

A month ago I was deciding the same thing. I went with a P226 Legion.. today I'm ordering a Glock 19X..

The real question should be "Which should I buy first, and which should I buy 1-3 months after?"

For me, it's Glock.
