Where are the Euro cal shooters out there?

At one time or another I have owned rifles in 6.5X50 Jap., 6.5X52 Carcano, 6.5X54 MS, 6.5X55 Swed., 6.5X58 Portuguese, 7X57 Mauser, 7.62X54R Mosin, 8X54 Krag, 8X56R Hungarian, 8X57 Mauser in J and S bores, 8X60 Mauser, 9X57 Mauser, 9.3X57 Mauser, 9.3X62 Mauser and the 11.15X60R Mauser.
I no longer own them all but I have handloaded for all of them. Hard to pick a real favourite, maybe the 6.5X55 followed closely by the 8X54 and the 8X57.
Forgot the 8X52R Siamese Mauser.

I've got a bit of an affinity towards combos as well. Got myself a BRNO 7x57r over 12g a little while ago. Just loaded up some 150gr Ballistic Tips for it, have yet to shoot them though.

You may find that the 150 is a bit light for that twist. I find that all my BRNOs (especially the break actions) generally prefer heavy for caliber bullets that are also short for caliber. IE, round noses or traditional flat bases with heavier weight.
Most of those combo guns were designed for short range in close areas of Germany etc. and velocity and distance was never "things" to go after.
The Accubonds and BT MAY work, but you find some frustration there.
Have fun - they are great rifles.

Thanks. I couldn't find anything about the twist rate, so figured with ballistics studies saying the 150 ballistic tips are one of the better performers for the velocity these guys are putting out I'd start there.

If the 150's don't cut it I'm going to go the completely opposite direction and try the 175 round nose interlocks (if I can find them)

I currently shoot and load for 7x57, 7x57R, 7x64, 8x57IS, 9.3x62 and 9.3x74R. I have also owned 6.5x54MS, 7x57R Ackley improved ( not sure that counts?), 8x57IR, and 8x57IRS. I also really like the .222, which I'm going to include here because the USA has given up on it and Europe still appreciates is as the wonderful small game round that it is.
I must like the 7x64 the best, because i have three, a 1950 Brno 21H, a 1968 Mannlicher-Schoenauer, and a modern Sako 85 Bavarian. If you have specific questions about loading the 7x64, ask away.

9.3x62s and 9.3x57 here and i used in Europe mostly France but not only there a 7x64 with 160 grains nosler partition that was very efficient for decades on various game.

I have a die set waiting for pickup in 7x65R plus a bunch of Hornady brass. I am looking forward to experimenting with it. It seems pretty well rounded.
Really liking my 5.6x50R mag

For your 7x64, can you advise what twist you have and what weight or bullet type you recommend? All my factory stuff comes in a 173grain or 175

I'm running a verney-carron express rifle in 9.3x74r.

Currently I’ve got a 8x57 and a 358 Norma. Both chambered properly in classic European hinting rifles. They’re both capable but have been subplanted by better NA cartridges.
