Nothing will beat local knowledge and boots on the ground. Find an area you want to hunt, go to the local outdoor shop and ask how hunting in the area is. They will give you a general idea of animals in the area (no one gives up the honey hole but most guys will give the general info). Then get out and drive some back roads and have a walk around. Get a back roads atlas book and find where the public land is. If none is around ask land owners if they seem receptive to the idea. Look for game trails and where animals are moving and when. And then there is the luck factor of being in the right place at the right time. There unfortunately is no magic technique that will put game I front of you. Good luck and be safe!
