Picked up a purrfect old pump shotgun for the chawp chawp of the barrel.
What do they charge for re & re the front bead once the barrel has been cut?

Is this something one could do by hizzself?

LOL , bet he uses chop saw, a hint, take the bead out before you chop and use a straight edge from center of receiver to center of the old hole, mark the barrel where the new / used bead will go

To locate the new bead on the center line use a small piece of angle iron with an edge lined up on the center of the bead as it will follow the barrel pretty much exactly.

How do you intend to "chawp chawp of the barrel" ??

This is simply marvelous.................good eye-deer, thanks.

However you do it, it is easier to locate the new bead position prior to cutting.
If it is located even slightly off center, you notice it every time you shoulder the gun.

As all others have stressed, mark the spot for the new bead position before cutting. the method I have used with good success is to rob the wifes sewing room of a length of common thread, run the thread up from the center of the rear sighting groove around the old bead still in the gun and then back to the center of the rear groove...hold both ends centered & pull tight and center punch between the threads...takes about 30 seconds and is fool-proof.
