Remington must of made the 14 in. 870's blue with wood stocks and forend.
I've been doing a little searching, but haven,t found any pics or info.
When did they start with the parkerizing and rubber.
I think I'd like a blued 870p 14 inch barrel with wood.

I had one, traded it off a while ago and it is now for sale on the Shotgun EE. Blued 14" Police with monte carlo stock. It's a great, smooth gun, doesn't know what jam means.
I had trouble giving it away personally, seems Ardent's done better. Nobody wanted a blued 14" shotgun.

I see it's now SPF.

I tracked one down at Wolverine but they were out of stock and it seems that since it is marked "Police" the US is no longer shipping it to Canada.

The blued with wood looks really good.

Old thread, but I was looking for a 14" 870 Police blued w/ wood also, but IIRC, they are all 18" now. Settled for a nice NIB factory 14" 870 Police parkerized instead.

Here's one...

I've started making my own. I've got an old Wingmaster (no plastic parts, super nice finish with wood with the police forestock) on the way and then I'll change the barrel to take 3" (I can live without the 3.5" mag) and the ejector (not a powdered metal ejector but machined from a solid block). I might change the mag spring and the shell lifter spring to handle heavier loads and add a mag extension. I may have to settle for an 18.5" barrel since I refuse to pay $300 for a foot-long tube. I figure I can do all this for under $400.

The main problems I have encountered is finding a barrel and mag extension that is blued and not parkerized.

Why not cut the barrel you have now?

Cutting a barrel below 18" (18.5" on a semi) creates a prohibited weapon. Can't do it. Must be MANUFACTURED below that
length to stay legal.

EDIT - Sorry, I see now that you meant cut down his current barrel to 18", not 14". My bad!

I'm going to redo my grizz in gun blue when I find the time..maybe do the letters in gold and pimp it a bit.

Here is a factory unfired 14" 870 Police Magnum along with a 14" 590 Mossberg. Not as pretty as the blued/wood ones though IMO.

Janesy:

I could just cut the barrel I have now (only to 18.5" unfortunately) but it is such a nice piece I don't know if I could bring myself to do it. I figure a good disk on the drill for metal, a file, one of those dremel tools to smooth it out, some liquid blue to dip the end in and I'm set

I thought the 3" (current barrel is 2 3/4) would give me more payload options. I might have to do some research and see if I can set up the electro-chemical bath to blue my own? Another barrel would also give me a dual use shotgun.

A monte carlo stock would be sweet to finish it off.

Very true Scott, it would be nice to keep a long barrel for hunting and skeet.

I don't think I would bring myself to do it like that either. If you get the bug back, shoot me a PM and I'll get some pics of the cut/recrown job that TacOrd does. It's cheaper than a dremel tool.

I thought TacOrd charged around $80 to cut and crown?

I'm still hoping for an old Remy blued barrel in 14" will show up on the EE.

I'll send you some pics of the new Wingmaster that should be in the mail today.
