It is a tough search for a nice double under 10,000. I eventually came to the conclusion the used market was a bit of a krapshoot and I didn't know enough about it to judge what was or wasn't a good deal on a vintage gun. I found it difficult to come up with one that had the right stock dims and the features I liked. Even in the new market, the brands available out there are limited to an extent, all there really seems to be are the Italian or German or French guns. CSMC does seem to be a krapshoot, there are AYA's and Uggies out there still that are nice, but, not quite there for what I wanted.
I don't think it would be a waste to investigate ordering a gun from Beretta or Chapuis or Verney-Carron or Merkel. There are many custom features that they will add on, that they do not commonly show, except on an order sheet or in their galleries. A 486 with DT's and sidelocks would likely bust the budget, but the other three may stay in there for you, and it costs you nothing but time and thought to investigate that.
