what do I have here ?

Firearms Co. Ltd. , Bridgewater, England imported by Mandall Shooting Supplies, Inc. , Scottsdale,##. As per Google. I'm glad I looked cuz my first thought was it sure looks like my uncle's Parker Hale I borrowed years ago for my first moose hunt.

I have the exact same rifle except its a .30-06! They are an excellent gun for the money ! I would never sell mine as it shoots so damn nice !! I will try to post a pic tomorrow .

It's not a 'Mauser style" action it's a genuine Mauser. Alpine - like Parker Hale and many others - built rifles on Mauser 98 actions after WW2.

A Santa Barbera (Spain) commercial action which is the same as used by Parker-Hale. Relatively inexpensive, these really were not bad rifles and usually shot quite well. I got hold of a few Alpine barrels and used them on various rifles. They were very good shooting barrels.
