What’s the current regulatory requirements for a guy to import some jacketed bullets?
Projectiles, not ammo.
I got an oddball and a guy has what I need but he’s south of the 49th parallel...
Easy to do or am I screwed?

Not when your trying to get specificly sized jacketed bullets for an odd caliber...

There is some stuff only available from USA. There are site sponsors that might be able to get something for you. Try contacting Mystic Precision first. Irunguns and Prophet River can likely get it for you too but might cost a bit more.

What bullets do you want?

most bullets can be shipped if under the 500 dollar itar limit

also bullets can be shipped if homemade or oddball calibers as a sample and propher river can bring them in as samples as I have done that in the past

oh and good question peter it helps to have someone asking the right question so it can be answered properly

Bullets are not an item that can be shipped under the exemption, at least not legally.

Where on Earth did you come up with this? It is completely untrue.

From International Traffic in Arms Regulations, Sec. 121.1, Part III, Para. f:

(1) The components, parts, accessories and attachments controlled in this category include, but are not limited to cartridge cases, powder bags (or other propellant charges), bullets, jackets, cores, shells (excluding shotgun shells), projectiles (including canister rounds and submunitions therefor), boosters, firing components therefor, primers, and other detonating devices for the defense articles controlled in this category.

I’m wanting jacketed bullets for my Winchester 1894 in 38/55.
I’ve yet to slug the bore to get an exact size but I’ve only found one guy in the States who makes them from .377” to .381”.
I couldn’t even find any standard .377” bullets in Canada.
Lead isn’t an issue but with a jacket is elusive...

People...he wants jacketed bullets for his 38-55. If he's having the same issues with his old '94 as I am, then I understand the need to try it.
X-Reload has jacketed Barnes Originals .377.........

If they have an export license then they can export, it is not really a product of you importing but rather them exporting. I know of a few people who have just said to ship it to a UPS store and drive it back but then you are the exporter and taking a huge risk, this all falls under homeland security, if a few bullets are worth the potential for jail time then have at it.

I have been thinking about all this too, I have a gun chambered in 8x56R and until recently that was only a US proposition, cast would be fine for plinking but not really for high power loads.

One thing you may be able to do is to size down from a larger size, Lee makes custom sizing dies if your gun slugs an odd size but you may be able to get away with a standard sizing die. I have been told, not tried, that you can size down jacketed bullets with the Lee sizers if you lube them. I am not sure though if you can get a 250gr jacketed slightly larger than what you need though.

Just a thought, a pain in the butt when the US thinks we are bad people.
