Lee–Enfield Mk III* magazines?

Just got my hands on a SMLE Mk III* from what I can tell here and am trying to track down a magazine or two for it. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a site to acquire some or even if anyone has some extras kicking around let me know. I'll have some pictures to follow later today!

.
You really need only one magazine for each rifle. Then, buy a few chargers and learn how to load them properly.

Magazines at the Gun Shows are $50-$75 each, but chargers are going for $3-$5 each. The Lee Enfield rifle was designed to be reloaded using the five round charger, with the magazine staying in place.

Also dont buy repros, they look neat and slick but are anything but. The dimensions arent (for me atleast) anywhere in the neighbourhood for my MK III.

Save your time and track down originals at a gun show, or toss up a wtb ad. I know of one older gentleman who always has magazines for sale at the woodstock gun show.. 60 bucks is steep but its worth having a nice magazine that fits well. Found one that was still glossy black with 85% or so original finish.

Great thanks for the information. A magazine is all it appears to be missing so getting one would be pretty sweet, although it looks like the rifling is a little rough so it might not be worth shooting.

And learn the difference between No.1 and No.4 magazines to avoid mistakes. The rear spine and catch notch are two things I recall are not the same.

No4 mags work in a no1..but not the other way.

Also there is a few on the EE. Your looking at 55-65 plus shipping or you can find them for 65-75 shipped.

You woulf want a 4th variation mag for a no1mk3* for the proper mag. But a 1 2 or 3 would work but cost way more. They are for long lees and CLLE's

This is backwards, I believe

You may be correct ill check when i get home but i know i have personally have taken LEC mags out of no4 rifles before
I now have two LEC 5 round factory mags.both came in no4 sporters. The LEC mags have a full spline and fit the no1 rifles no issue. Also my 5 round PH made in japan mag is for my no1 custom and thats sitting in a no5 rifle right now

Personally i believe any LE/LM mag will fit any rifle ( execpt the 8 round single stack LM1 mag(early mags would also need the chain loop removed to fit newer rifles)). But some mags just dont fit, even the correct type because each mag was fitted to the rifle it came in from factory

I have 5 different variations at home of LE mags ill get pics and try in mle, lec,clle,no1,no4 and no5 and let you know what fits what
